As the title says, should I think about getting a lawyer for a drink driving case? If so how do I go about getting one? I'm not trying to get out of it I just don't want to be "made an example of" and get a big ban and fine.

Strangely my gf's bro got done a couple of weeks ago and he's got his court case coming up next week. Whereas I've been waiting 7 weeks and still haven't heard a thing? Is there a certain time I need to wait?

Cheers

Yes, probably.

I was done on a DR10 many moons ago when I was young and foolish. Cheeky buggers tried to get me on a dangerous driving (was in a car) charge as well, and my lawyer got them to drop that charge if I peaded guilty to the DR.

You could be waiting months for a driving charge to get to court. If I remember right I got in touch with a lawyer after they informed me of my day in court. But it wouldnt do any harm just to phone one and ask.

no harm in getting a brief...or at least going to see one to get advice.
as for the 6 month on top of the ban....dont understand that. your not banned untill the court finds you guilty and imposes sentance.

No but I don't have a bike and can't drive so I'd like to be living out the fine now rather than when I do and can.

Like suspended sentences.

Cases can take varying lengths of time to get to Court, depending on CPS etc. Your GF's brother may come under a Narey day, basically a fast track sysyem to stop the Courts clogging up, this can be as quick as arrest on Saturday, Court on Monday.
