Okay, I can't be the only one who's likes them.

https://www.groenewoldmotoren.nl/images/DSCF020.JPG

Who else has one, what do you like and hate about them?
Have you done any upgrades? (brakes mainly or perhaps front suspension)
Any major problems? (bar vibration)
Any recommendations on tyres, engine maintenance etc etc?

I'm a relatively new Divvy owner and quite like the machine...it appeals to the sensible rider within, knowing fine well that when I push it, it all goes horribly wrong. Laughing

Please don't answer any of his questions. The bike will be sold in a few weeks so it will only waste valuable minutes of your life. Thumbs Up

Dont worry your not alone, there are some lovers of the thing Laughing
Day to day wise they are great little workhorses and if you go to a dealer they'l tell you that you wont get much better than a divvy for day in day out with a bit of touring.
Personally i like the look of the s but not so much the n.
Low Profile adds to the looks and accomodates my verticly challegend Physique Rolling Eyes
Its all pretty sound mechanicly and the engine bar the noises is a bullet proof one.
If you dont have engine bars i would recomend em as your next buy for it.
The clutches are prone to going due to a lack of lubrication, just ask the garage if it happens to drill holes in the plate at the front to make it like a conventional one.
Watch for the wires at the rear r/h side as they are prone to corroding also.
I love thrashing the little beggar when i can, and its fine for dashes through country roads.
Pros: cheap, good fuel economy, easy to fix, go forever, good little tourers, comfiest seat you'l find for its class.
Cons, Well just dont expect mach speed as power isnt overly plentiful but is enough, and well urrhhhmmm dunno if there are any more as long as you know what its for.

But i have my eye on a new toy and being a student cant afford both so i may have to sacrifice the divvy for the craving of a bit of a sportier bike.

Love it to bits wouldnt 've had any other first big bike.
Thumbs Up

Have one and love it.

It's amazing what you can squeeze out of them. Me and Mrs. K were two up with luggage over to Herefordshire (from Bucks) and back at the weekend. Bar the engine oil "going weird" with the heat (causing neutral to dissapear from it's normal position and moving up the box to between 5 and 6 Smile ) it was fun.

Whipped it round the roads (and up the broadway tower hill run) and squeezed 90+ out of it... Smile

I so want to like them. I loved my XJ900F; I wanted the 600, but was swayed by the shaft drive of the 900 (and price of the particular one I ended up buying).

When they released the Diversion, the first thing that struck me was the "afterthought" arrangement of the pipes. I'm sure there's a very good reason for it, to keep them the same length or something, but it really does look like someone went "oh shit, we forgot the downpipes!" Smile The looks have grown on me; still prefer the lines of the XJ though.

Performance wise it would suit my needs, but the fuel consumption is reported to be as bad as the XJ.

I'd need to live with one for at least a week, but without buying one first, I can't see that happening.

I was thinking more of the 900, but what MPG do you get out of the 600? And what kind of riding environment?

My mate owns ones - he has fallen in love with them!

He's managed to bend the gearbox shaft on his first one, so has bought himself a second!

Ive ridden it once or twice and i also love the ride - they are sooo smooth! Compared to the GS5 anyway Laughing

Exactly. Getting the same here. Got 120 miles to £7 worth of motorway priced fuel on Saturday, no idea how much the tank takes. Not really had it on "normal" roads yet so will get back to you on that. But the pull from 70-100mph is quite good surprisingly. I have the faired model and was expecting it to be slower than it is.

Annoyed at the 1st - N - 2nd problem I have (go to 1st and keep hitting neutral so keep having to press down to make sure I don't get caught unaware)

Really need a topbox (preferably with side panniers) but they are blimmin rare 2nd hand. Don't like to think what it will cost me new. Crying or Very sad

Feel like I have the "power hunger" out of my head now and the Divvy gives an enjoyable, comfortable ride. It was incredibly cheap too (£400-30k miles 1997 model) so I'm naturally very happy.

I was going to buy one. It was a toss up between a secondhand divvy 600 and a brand new GS500F. I went for the GS because it was lighter than the divvy but had I gone for that in the first place, I might have kept it longer than I did the GS (3 months) Laughing

I learned on a GS500E and the Divvy felt like a monster (ohh! with it's 60 BHP! Smile ) after the GS (which "couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding" according to my instructor Smile )

Went on a long two up trip at the weekend with Mrs. K. Which was 20+ stone of people, Rear box stuffed to bursting and a 25L tank bag full to the brim. Ragged it around in the hot weather and still got about 100 miles out of £6.50's worth of petrol...

12 months on from getting her (the bike not the wife Smile ) I'm feeling the need for more power so might sell up and get a newer fazer or similar.

K.

I have had my divvy s for 12 months and shes great.

As previously said you will get vibration at ~6k revs, a classic divvy thing, also clutch rattle is common.

Fuel economy is cracking.

I use mine to commute to work, did some touring in France in May and go for blats at the weekends.

It doesn't have shed loads of oompf, but will still see nearly all cars away from the lights.
I have embarrased a few born-again friends of mine on the twistier roads with it.

Maintenance is easy, parts are cheap and it jusst keeps going as long as you keep up the oil changes.

I have fitted a powerbronze taller screen to mine and it makes the world of difference.
I also added a Stebel horn as the standard is rubbish, you could fart louder than it!

Two up is fine with the missus on the back, things got a little bouncy when I had my 14stone mate on it with me, but hey, its only little Smile

It will sit at 90 all day without complaining and if you wring its neck you will get an indicated 125 ish on the clocks (so I have heard Wink).

For a first "big bike" or a daily workhorse, you can't go wrong.
