I have been browsing on Bike Trader online, looking for the next bike potentially one of the sports 600s. There's hundreds of R6s, GSXR600s. I filter a search for a Kawasaki ZX6R and apparently there are only 6 for sale within a 200 mile radius fo where I live!? Shocked (near brighton incidentally, try it yourself).

I've also tried putting in CC as '636', or leaving it blank and browsing through the 400s and 750s but the 600s just don't exist.

Now surely they are not rare bikes but any ideas why this result is being thrown up on Bike Trader.

I was paricularly looking for the 2003 models, or the one previous to the latest restyle. There are only two it seems in the country!?

Am I mad?

if you think everyone in the country who has one for sale uses bike trader, then quite possibly you are mad, yes.

Confused

I don't expect everyone with a ZX6R for sale would use Bike Trader no, but I would expect a similar proportion to the GSXRs or R6s owners.

It is quite an oddity.

Thanks for that link above there seems to be more on ebay.

Maybe it's a personality trait amongst kawasaki owners that they'd rather gamble thier bike on ebay. Confused

Found 11 within 40 miles of a BN1 postcode. Razz

Search for ZX rather than ZXR.

I think the 2003/4 models are the best looking bikes around.

Of course the ducati's are very pretty bikes but I've heard rumblings about their build quality. Shifty

The average ZX6R rider is busy enjoying the 2 months of the year they actually use their bikes, instead of selling them. Razz

Not enough Kawasaki's for sell due to the amount of engines blown.

However if you browse ebay for new engines, there are quite a few on offer. Wink

If your looking to use it on the road then allow a couple of hundred quid for some suspension work. They are notoriously over sprung and are quite harsh.

That said, I have done nothing to mine, but then I rarely ride it on the road with any gusto. On the track they are blinding.

The 636 is a lovely engine with suprising amounts of torque. Stunning induction roar, although you loose most of that if you fit a race can. To be honest I think I prefered it before fitting my end can.

Expect to be paying £3250 for a tatty 20k+ B1 up to £4200 for a mint B2 still under warrenty.

Regarded by many ninja riders to be the finest zx6 in the range. The newer C models are more composed and a better road bike, but lack that certain edge.

There's loads about so be patient and find one that your happy with. Thumbs Up

I can vouch for the stunning grin the 2003 B1H gives you.

Brutal is the word, brutal.

Watch when you wind on that throttle because a bump in the road will send you skyward, but surely thats part of the fun!

Mine came from ebay £2600 for an 02 reg with 5000 miles, not even a scratch Smile, It was down in London but found a company that transported it up to Manchester for £90 so buying out of your area can pay off. On ebay I was using free form search for zx, zx6 or zx-6.

As for the bike, it's amazing, the smoothness of the power with no flat spots in any gear or revs makes it wonderful to ride, think the newer one is the same. Cant say that about the R6 Razz
