When i was in Thailand i took some shrooms (wild picked) and ended up having a really really bad trip, they were quite halucanegenic (on the night of my 19th birthday) and really fucked me up for a good few days.

I geniunely felt like i was going to die and nearly went into shock. Really screwed me up.

Anyway since then i seem to get like really bad panic attacks. I had a really bad one when scuba diving the next day under the water, felt like i was gonna pass out.

Anyway went to thrope park today and altough i thought the rides were quite boring and didn't scare me at all i felt like i was having panic attacks again. I kept feeling like i was gonna pass out.

Are these things related? Really starting to get me worried now as i also found out the other day you can get flashbacks of musshies like lsd (although not sure if that is true)

I don't want to go to a doctor just yet because my parents know the gp. Confused

Firstly, you have patient confidentiality, so there is NO WAY of your rent's finding out and if they do, your GP will be struck off.

Secondly, you need to stop doing that shit.

Any intense experience, with or without drugs, can result in flashbacks etc.

I've definitely been left feeling a bit 'odd' after taking some hallucinogens in the past and having relatively 'bad' trips.
Seems to die away slowly - though never had flash backs or panic attacks.
Talking to people that have, again they say it tends to go away with time.

This sort of thing is usually made worse if you're taking more intoxicants, of whatever type.

Oh and I doubt the heat helps either. Just sitting in my office I've been feeling quite dodgy!

Jon B: would be rather hard to actually get the doctor struck off, I expect.
In my experiece, GPs don't know much about this sort of thing anyway.

you will take paic attakcs, its up to you how yu deal with them now. i am 24 and i took crap for years and al though this may not help i suffered attacks for 3 years and still have them today. i took one today actually. its a mind set. once it happens yu are afraid of it happening again and its the drugs that set it off. done that for me anyway.

you will not die from a panic attack! remeber that. nothing will happen convince yourself and you will get used to the idea. so when it rears its ugly head fight it off and do something else.

pm me if you want i am the expert on panic attacks and see it everyday of people i know.

good point simon. but you get what i meant there, exception being on a bike and if you feel an attack pull over on a bike. its not like a heart attack.

i meant with the symptoms some people think they are dying. this is not the case.

I had a really bad experience over 8 years ago now and I still suffer panic attacks related to it. I guess they aren't quite as bad now as they were for the first few years after the trip but it really screwed me up for ages. Crying or Very sad

It's a horrible feeling, like you are going to pass out. Theme park rides make it worse as you get the feeling of loss of control and dizzyness which are similar feelings to what you had on the trip. You try to think logically about it but it doesn't do any good!

sometimes it can be things you blocked out and you ant explain why.

i will feel panicy now if i go somewhere and there is no loo incase i take a panic attack cause thats where i go to get away from people in public places.
this also happens to a good mate of mine.

if i am in a car, i dont feel in control and i cant get out of the vehicle cause its moving, and worse is when its a hatch back and i am in the back, then i freak!

my mate experiances them if something dosnt go his way, he has to leave what he is doing and hide for a while.

i was told i had anxiety and depression, the anxirety attacks cause deppression cause i could not go anywhere for fear of it happening again.

self esteem was alot to do with it al so.

i still take panic attacks in the doc waiting room and the vidoe shop and i have no idea why there and not anywhere else?

Thats it 100% nothing i can do about it.

Might go and see the doctor and see what she says.

Could other drugs affect it? i.e make it worse?

course drugs make it worse. some drugs have side effects that can cause the feelings of an attack. and the drugs docs give yuo to help only make it worse in the long wrong. positive thinking therepy helps though. see what your doctor says anyway. make sure he dont just throw tablets at you to get rid of you.

I’m would say I am an expert in this field, probably done more of this shit than most of you, and if you have done more than I have, start digging. Lol
Sorry I’m not boasting here but you don’t need advice from a Doc who might have inhaled some passive smoke in a pub once so thinks he knows the effects of drugs.

Dragon fly, take no offence but the type of thing is similar but at the same time, a whole lot different.
A girl mate of mine suffers from panic attacks and the advice I would give her wouldn’t help her out.

Nah, seriously Mark, nothing will come of this dude, the Doc is an idiot and none of them understand things like this. They know how it happens (medically), they just don’t understand the real important workings of it. Wink
I almost died one night from taking over 3grms of coke, many pills and was drinking stella smoking reef, mix that with the 8 miles walk and Jungle house party and I was in a seriously bad state.
Time froze occasionally (people and things actually stopped moving) and my heart seemed to stop to, I collapsed but regained consciences to stop myself getting worse, it was the worse night of my life and I felt like I needed to stop it before I went crazy. lol

After this the days and weeks after were pretty bad, I was hallucinating in the day time, although I saw cool things like an Emu and some Ninja’s one time I was scared and didn’t want to go to work anymore or go outside. I took some time off, did some really nice relaxing things and went to see some friends I hadn’t seen in a long time, just to get back to reality. I’d say it took about 3 weeks for the bad things to stop and then possibly 2 months before I was back to completely normal, although I would say I could function perfectly after 1 month you are still a bit battered from it for a little while after.

Don’t worry Mark, it could be a lot worse, you could have actually died. Shrooms never sent me on a bad trip, but then they weren’t wild from Thailand Wink

Go have a cup of tea and wank.

Take care

Killa

The other person you could go and see is a specialist addiction doctor. If you have an addiction service near you (which you will, your local PCT will manage one) you can stop by and call in for information and support from drug workers and doctors.

Most of the drug workers are ex-druggies (not too sure about the ex sometimes!) and the doctors are specialists in the field and have a thorough empathy and understanding of the symptons and may be able to offer a script the will help with the flash backs.

They also work fully confidentially from both social services and your own GP so there will be no way your parents will find out.

I occasionally suffer panic attacks which stem from 'whitey-ing' 10 years ago!.
The weird thing is that for about the first 5 years after, it didnt really affect me, then then next 5 years I had (have) a phobia of being sick. I now find it hard to be in quiet rooms with lots of people i.e. restaurants, cinemas, lecture rooms incase i have a panic attack...which makes me panic!

Why anyone would want to do mushrooms, pills, lsd all that shite is just beyond me.

EDIT: but yeah your fine dont worry about it, I think most people have had a similar thing.

I've had a similar experience. I idiotically scoffed a box of Thai shrooms in amsterdam after 5 pints of export and suffered what was the most traumatic experience of my life.
As I'm sure with anyone who's had similar you just can't begin to describe what happens to your brain/conciousness.

I was relieved to come out of it 5 hours later without being the paralysed purple cabbage that I believed I was at the time.
My strategy was to laugh it off and get on with it the next day. I expected to feel a very jittery from it and I did but the key is to think positively and not dwell on, or expect panic attacks. Learn a lesson and get on with it. I didn't suffer 'flash backs' as such but still vividly remember what a mess I was.

I would hope you've forgotten about taking mushrooms ever again, so drop it, move on and you've nothing to worry about.

Call me old fashioned but I think going to the doctors or seeking medication is only going to perpetuate the problem.

You'll be fine.

I get together with some of my mates every sunday night (videonight) and we get a chinese takeaway and rent a video to watch.

When it's my turn to pick and I am standing in the video shop and looking at all the crap titles I feel a bit like that.

Is this a panic attack ?

Your bound to feel a bit fucked up for a while.

I've done lots of Acid (LSD), I've done two types of chronically strong mushies at the same time, 2CI etc etc and I'm fine.

If you smoke weed, thats gonna be about the worst thing for anxiety...

Na i'd worry more if I was a RS125 going 70MPH to be then overtaken by a 46BHP CBR125 going 95MPH-ON-THE-CLOCKS.

Shit that happens. Laughing

Can't be anything more weird than the funny pills you 2 fucking morons are taking.

Back to the topic in hand...

They can have a great effect from years I am afraid to say. It isn't know how they cause it, but, I think some medication can be taken to ease them and should stop your panic attacks.

Marajuana is also known for causing this.
