Hi everyone, I am looking to upgrade, idealy to a litre and idealy an R1 but I know its not an ideal world. Obviously Im gonna go and test ride them all and see which one feels right, But I was wondering if any of you guys had any advice on any of the litre bikes and things I should look out for when buying one ? ____________________ **************Honda CBR 600 FR***********

Yep, i test rode the 2005 R1, ZX10R, GSXR and Blade and ended up buying the ZX10R because it scared me the most.
It really depends on what your looking for out of your next bike.
My thoughts on the other bikes were that the blade was the easiest to ride, very neutral and pleasant handling that soaked up the bumps nicely and a very smooth power delivery. I would say this would make the best road bike of the bunch as i found it very easy to ride fast on.
The R1 wanted to wheelie the most which was fun, but i didn't get on with the riding position and the handling felt a bit vague. I got wrist ache in an hours ride and the pegs felt far too low. But i reckon its the best looking of the bunch.
The GSXR was very good. Fantastic motor, the torquiest of the lot, and the handling was very good too, similar to the blade but not quite as rider friendly. I could imagine this being the best on the track.
The ZX10R has the most mental power delivery of the bunch and makes you feel like your really going very very quick. The bike felt like a race bike, uncompromising handling, a real handful on bumpy roads and coupled with the screaming top end power delivery i felt this bike had character and an attitude.
Its hard decision to pick a winner, as i say it depends what your looking for. But i reckon the blade for a first thousand bike, the GSXR for fast road riding and track, the R1 for the older generation and the ZX10R for the nutters amongst us ____________________ My Bikes in order:- Yamaha RXS100 / Suzuki X7 250 / Yamaha RD350LC / Kawasaki
