First of all hi Smile to all the members, I just signed up today...

Ok. I have booked my CBT for this sunday coming, and I intend to do the complete 6 day DAS course over the next few weeks
My intention is to go straight for one of the 600 sports bikes...hmm maybe daft, but I'm 39 and haven't got the balls I used to have, so I will be very safety conscious.

Just wondered if this is plain silly? Should I get a smaller bike for 6 months first?

Oh and which is the comfiest of the above bikes? GSXR600 maybe?

hey mate well done on booking up the CBT, i really enjoyed doing mine!

as with the 600 a lot of people go straight to em after there DAS and to be honest mate you are in control of the bike and that right hand is yours and you determine how fast the bike goes Very Happy

just take it easy and learn how to ride it before going silly bollocks on it as that is where the trouble can start!!

take it easy and good luck with the CBT mate

Who are you doing your DAS with? Is of some interest to me as I'm around Warrington a lot.

I think Jonnyt on these boards is a Wiganer too Smile

GL with the CBT and DAS. Sure you'll be ok on a 600 so long as you're not stupid. I'm on a 01 CBR Sport as my first bike and it's fine for me so far. (watch me chuck it thru a hedge this weekend Wink )

Don't know how much of difference there is in the latest 600's tho.

no probs I did CBT , booked theory pratted around on a CG and an SR for a month till I passed my theory , then did DAS and jumped on a NTV600 , not quite a super sports bike , but then I jumped on an NTV650 which also isn't a sports bike , but cheap to drop,

just make sure your super sports gets some nice big bungs so its not so $$$$$ WHEN you drop it not IF.

I past my CBT then DAS in about two months though I did get the training in just to be on the safe side then bought a YZF 600r thundercat as my first bike, it's s great bike, very comfy and fills you with confidence. Though don't forget the 600's are all very quick anyway but like ppl say it's your arm that is controlling that throttle.
Just need to learn to ride it properly, anyone can open the throttle up. Jut don't forget respect the bike and you will be fine.

Oh and yeah crash bungs are good I recently came off mine for a simple little mistake at 20 MPH and the fairings are badly scratch wished I had fitted bungs to mine!

I know a few people who have took similar courses and gone stright onto a 600... one of which has never even rode on the back of a bike before Shocked Aslong as you take it easy you should be fine.

It's Lamb mate... in Warrington.
https://www.cbtcheshire.com/

Looking forward to it.
To be honest, what made my mind up is I'll be emigrating to Sweden soon, and with the lack of traffic, a bike is the ideal way to travel.

Just tried booking my DAS with Lamb.

£550 not including the test fee or the 2 hours on the day.

Running jump.

They also charge £125 for a Geared CBT, and £95 for an Auto CBT.

Hi, I'm new around here too.
I just completed my CBT on Sunday too. Theory test is set for Monday 31st in Rhyl, going for an assessment at Deeside, hopefully tomorrow morning. Hope to get a few days training in for a mid August practical test.
Bought a GS500 last week. Didn't want anything too fast, just a reliable 'plodder'.

Good luck

Aye. But we have a rarely used old MX5/Eunos in the garage which is gonna get sold, and together with some redundancy money coming my way, gonna be quite flexible Wink The only obstacle is my missus :/

Currently like the look of the Suzuki bandit or GSR 600 maybe Smile

Why is daft? Get one, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. Once you know gears you can ride any bike.

What they didn't teach me (Not sure about everyone else) on the training is to just use the clutch
& get a feel for the bike just rolling around on the biting point, this way you know where the biting point is instead of telling you to open the throttle & clutch slowly which was usless to me, or even if they said open it up & hold it a few cm's from completely letting go, no wonder it took me all day to finally move.
