I know that the engines are actually from one of the larger Japanese makes - Suzuki I think.

I'd think they are copying the Hyundai business model , ie start small use other peoples engines till you scrape a bit of capital together then start designing your own engines frames and what not.

I bet ford regrets selling its old engines to Hyundai , much like suzi will probably regret it as Hyosung will probably fill the gaps at the lower and middle bit of the market.

Care to tell us what models in particular you are interested in?

Build uality on korean/chinese bikes isn't as good naturally but you look after it with some wd40 and scottoiler and it'll be just as good as the competition.

Spares aren't as easy to get hold of but they're cheaper than Honda bits anyway. Laughing

Sure wouldn't buy one new though, re-sale value is horrible.

I dont really know any thing about their build quality, but i have to say the GT125R has to be on the the best looking sports 125s available.

Woop woop!

I had a Hyosung RX125. The build quality and everything was fine, they do tend to use mostly Suzuki parts.

Bought my RX125 for £1275 about 7 months old, completly spotless, sold it for £1,100 about a year later after a harsh winter, not quite so spotless!

My experience os that they're fine, but I never had to buy any major parts for it. Oil filters and everything are standard and in stock at every bike parts supplier.

I wouldn't lump Hyosung in with the cheapy Chinese brands, I believe they're quite a bit better quality

They have a proper line up as well up to 650cc, not just cg125 replicas. Really nice little bikes and promising for the future. The unfaired comet 125 v twin looks ace for a 125, so does the faired one.

Do they?

Pretty sure both the 125 and 650 aren't their own.

Definitely have seen the 650 is considered to be generally not as good as the SV, despite costing pretty much the same.

Depends what opinion you read G. Laughing

The 650 motor they use is from the SV, only tuned to give 9 more horsepower, and a few lb/ft more torque at slightly higher RPM.

Hyosung were originally a contracted parts producer for Suzuki, so many Suzuki's are actually nearly Hyosungs anyway. They struck out on their own, and and will be ready to release their 1000cc bikes soon.

RRP wise, the bog stocker SV650 is £4399, The hyosung gt 650 is £3599. The fully faired sports bike gt650R is £3999 otr.

At that money, the SV650 damn well had be better. Lets face it, the GT650 even has usd forks, something the SV appears to miss out on.

But it is made all the more remarkable when you look at other features, such as USD forks (with compression and rebound adjustment) fitted as standard – unheard of in the class before now.

How is the suspension worse? Apparently it is slightly softer, but it is adjustable. Yes the frame is steel and heavier than the SV, but the motor is more powerful. The only thing people seem to moan about in road tests is the lack of feel from the brakes...

Oh, and BTW, the motor is their own, not Suzuki's. Sorry on that.

For saying they did start with the copying of old Suzi's and Honda's etc, they are really moving fast now ...

Look at the new cruiser (think the once attached is the new one), Its the top of its Range beating the Equivilant Harly, Suzi, Kwak etc ...

And there stuff looks good too (there origional stuff that is Razz) ...

Luke.

Thumbs Up

The modernised styling of the cruisers does add some originality. I wonder about resale/residual values, though.

hmm ... i see what you mean, as in the Hyosung name isnt well known, it may loose its resale value rapidly ...

I think they could be a make to buy then keep untill the resale value climbs up the more they get heard of and the more bikes they start putting out ...

But for there small learners they are fine i think, as learner resale values always stay high, no matter the make really, lol, because there's always 17 yr olds (like me) after getting there hands on as much as they can for as little as they can and the Hyosungs seem to be that kind of area ...

Luke.

Course they did, when they formed they grabbed a lot of suzuki staff apparently so they knew all about their engines etc.

Everyone slates the SV on any post on this forum except when it has the word Hyosung in it somewhere when suddenly the SV becomes the best bike ever.... Rolling Eyes strange that as I don't think the SV is all that good and having seen the older comet 650 and thinking it was a nicely put together machine I very much suspect their newer 650 (below) can't be bad.

The one problem with the SV is that however you look at it or from whatever angle you view it from it always looks like Victoria Beckham.... skinny with empty holes and gaps everywhere. The GT looks more whole, they just need to alter the styling of the screen area a bit to make it look a little less old school 'upswept', you see this better on the red bike below:

https://www.hyosung.co.uk/images/gt650r/large3.jpg

https://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/extreme3d51/05_650v650_34.jpg

£3999 new also gets you a full fairing which actually looks like it's meant to be there, oval can which doesn't require cutting off like the SV's stainless muffler, USD forks and a good deal more hp/torque. Also don't get hung up on the weight at 200kg. All the Jap bikes weigh theirs without oil, coolant, fuel, even tyres if they can get away with it. Hyosung may not do that so it might just be a more honest measurement like Ducati who's 749 comes in at a nice 190kg Shocked

Congratulations folks that is exactly how i feel. Yes, I find Jodie Beautiful, but she is her own person and is welcome to find her own way in life, as she becomes bored with calling the same people the same things in life. I hope she enjoys her independance from us, Which i hope she builds on her own, not becoming stuck between a rock and and a hard place and involved on those of us who who would rather exceed in life.

Charlotte is the same, even if she does find happier times in her life, I hope she rests easy from finding that she made me happy at least. And that she remained beautiful to the end. Ignore what they say i'm not pissed, they are simply jealous and not beautiful, I look for you in the afterlife as the shining beacon as the gods attempt to seperate us, goodbye, i love you.
