Today i had my first ever bike lesson with BCMT.
My instructor was called Chris and i would just like to say the guy was ace! He was really friendly and knew his stuff
Anyway...I paid £50 for a 3 hour lesson which included bike hire. Not bad in my opinion. The bike was a Yamaha SR125, a training school favourite
The bike felt wierd to start with (im used to riding a 50cc race rep) but i soon got used to it.
The idea of the lesson was to asses my current riding level and see how many more lessons i need before booking a test.
We started off in the 'classroom' and he talked us (there were 2 other guys) through all the usual stuff such as when to do lifesavers and rear observations etc. He also said about road positioning. He said we should always ride 'left to centre' which surprised me a bit as i always tought you should ride just the right of the centre of your lane.
Then we went out on the road for an hour before having a quick break and doing a few maneuvers. We covered pushing the bike through a u-turn, doing a propper u-turn and i even tried doing a static u-turn! We then did an emergency stop before going back on the road.
At the end Chris said my actual riding was fine (gears etc.) and there was nothing wrong with my road positioning. He said to just keep practising the system of doing all the observations and life savers etc.
I booked another 2 lessons and a test at the end of August. I would have idealy like to do it mid-August, but this was the earliest date available. Oh well, looks like i'll have plenty of time to practise! ____________________ CBT - Done | Theory - Passed | Test - 4th Oct [PASSED!]
