Right, is it really worth paying like £100 and daft quid for a service and stamp. Or should i just fit the bits i can to my bike and any i cant get local bike shop (Speedwell in Radcliffe) to do the rest.

Its the 7500 service for cbr 125, all it needs is

Spark Plug

Air filter

And possibly the oil, but not checked the service guide yet.

Yes, you will no doubt be selling the bike on to a complete beginner so the service will give them some peace of mind. Or more imoprtantly their parent's. Should also help the bike sell quicker.

What im thinking is, if i buy the parts,

filter

Spark plug

And say fit these and stamp the book, then you reckong that'll be alright, just paying £100 for fitting them and ajusting and lubing bits is a fucking rip off, my bikes running nice now.

i got a cbr125and do all my own servicing, its quite easy but the air filter is a bastard cos you got to drain and remove the tank. What a stupid place for an air filter. The rest is easy enough though. You also wanna check chain tension at the same time. Thumbs Up

Be cheaper to buy all the parts yourself, get a custom made stamp up yourself and stamp the book that way. That's what I'll be doing (not hiding any jobs that haven't been done though)

If it's still in warranty, you need a stamp (doesn't have to be an official garage though) to keep the warranty I believe - though you may still be able to get them to uphold it if something does go wrong, it will be more hassle.

I doubt you'll save much buying it yourself.

depends tbh, for what he's described is like £5 for the spark plug, £10 for the filter, and £5 for a bottle of oil.
at servicing prices it might be the same for the parts, but then throw on the £40 labour cost and it's pretty steep.

keep the reciepts for the stuff you buy and staple them on the service handbook thing in the appropriate mileage.

He's talking about buying them, then asking the garage to fit them; I don't think this will save much, really.

I dunno what to do then, the places i can get them fitted are, a local mechanic £15 an hour labour, but no stamp, or Speedwell £50 an hour who will stamp it.

if i buy parts myself that will be

£8 spark plug

£19 Air filter

£ 9.99 for 1 litre of Oil

yea sorry didn't notice that particular post.
like G says, you won't save money buying the parts.

you can only really save by doing the work yourself. why shoot off £50 quid when the work's INCREDIBLY easy?! just staple the reciepts for the stuff bought into the service history book.
