Basically i need a new job, im getting bored of working as labourer. So does anyone know of any good Employment agency's in the Manchester/Bolton area.

And what type of work does employment agency's offer?

they take a cut out of your wages remeber! some do anyway. my mate had £100 a week taken out of his wages cause he was agency.

i went for a job for two days charity work and they worked out my wages came down to a pathetic £20 at the end of it and it was £8 an hour.

IMO its not worth it. look in your job centre or paper.

different agencies for different works :

Mancs heres my list

Reed - white collar professional stuff , though do things like secretaries too take a bit cut outta you , and a really big cut if the firm decides to keep you one off , bastards who trial you by giving you shite assignments

Rullion (I have a feud with them) they take about 25p-40p outta your hourly rate low level office tripe. (based on water street) , and temp work ,

Water street - Brooke street , good folks do everything top to bottom , take a fairly hefty cut though.

Adecco is much the same , worked at HSBC (for 8/h) through them once they took 35p outtta me pay packet per hour not too bad cus the going rate was high, can find all sorts of stuff there.

Blue arrow - different branches do different things (catering for catering etc)

Hayes same as blue arrow,

Forrest - admin secretary work always temp never perm,

Manchester per temps , Manchester council agency need 12 months work exp in office before they will take you (lies work too!), v cushy if you can find something.

There is also this work today get paid today in Bolton and Mancs where its much the same as labouring but you get paid on the day , queue up v early.

Avoid

the one in prestwich which says your local job agency! (past the M&S food), bastids they arem they have the Mc'ds type jobs andwarehouse jobs and they take a HUGE cut out of piss poor wages.

I'd also note lots of job agencies advertise via the job centre (which is the utter dregs of work) and also through

www.manchesteronline.co.uk where you can find lots of agencies advertise and tell you the spec of the person they want ,I was almost a van driver (for cold meats in Bolton near Sharples Tyres) for £6.5/h, which is piss easywork. But no good for a career, also watch out for things that say exceed NMW = 1p more than £5.05 with you being 21+ (they want younger ones sothey can pay them less).

I'd also say its numbers game , expect a 5% response rate , in times like this (1.8 million unemployed and graduates getting their first wings) , they can pick and choose who they want.

find out the the job in the agency which they are very cagey about then go to the employer direct, thats what people do over here. saves the employer paying the agency also.

first choice over here where polite and told me they didnt take a cut form your wages. but kept rining me about secratary work when i am in the health profession and asking me about computer programs, HUH? think they just done that cause i said the other agencys never call anyone back for jobs.

I think id like to do something sales or customer service wise. Something like a Bank, or Selling over the phone, im confident person and enjoy talking to people so thats what id like to do, but i only have 6 month call centre experience. Thing thats hit me hard is, i lost my girlfriend, which meant i lost my my job on the bar, which was an extra £90 a week in my pocket.

Manchester airport ? , busy season right now they are always hiring throwers (baggage handlers ie those bastards who pissed all over my luggage and shat in my grooming bag (shaver, shaving foam,tooth brush etc) )

need a TON of security checks these days but working anti social hours (ie early mornings late nights) and lots of checkable references and no crim records but nets £6/h (used to net 9-£12/h).

ditto with the foriegn exhange booth , I know people who worked there and its unpleasant.

WTF? Taking a cut from your wages?

No way hose, totally illegal. The agency charge the client, not the worker. They are not allowed to charge you a penny for finding you work or supplying you to one of their clients. Anyone who has been doing this is breaking the law and will be given a hefty fine by the DTI. Report them!

Are you sure they weren't accruing Holiday Pay for you? Following a recent EU test case agencies can no longer pay Holiday Pay with your wage on a weekly basis and have to accrue it and pay it either when you take holidays or when you leave. A lot of agencies (especially the smaller ones) have always done this cos they've realised that they can "forget" to pay it unless the temp specifically asks for it. You'd be surprised how many temps still don't realise that they have Holiday Pay "in the pot" and never ask for it..........

Yeah it's bollocks, they don't charge you.

The employer pays the agency, the agency pay you.

The employer pays about double your wages to the agency (So £14 ph, and give you £7 ph)

It's a fair wage, and usually better than fulltime in my experience.

sorry I read that wrong , www.jobcentre.gov.uk ,

just lists the things you can find on the terminals at the actual job centre so if you can;t find anything on the URL above then there is little point in going to a job centre unless you are signing on or trying to get onto a free training course which is pointless as they require you to be signing on.

Right as a recruitment consultant something I can post on!

We do not take a cut out of wages.

We would pay a temp for example 6.oo per hour then charge the company directly if we say we are paying the temp 6.00 thats what we pay them we also pay all your tax contribution and you accrue holiday at 1.66 days per month. Nothing is deducted out of your hourly wage.

Get your self a CV together and go round your local agencies also then call them a couple of times a week so your name sticks out that you are actually looking for work and are botherd about doing it.

If you can, avoid agency work like the plague and get a decent permanent job, agency work is shite.

i worked in sales for years and got sick of back stabbing workers and getting messed about by companys. infact i have sued companys and won cause of there actions towards me and employees. i am now again in the health industry but i would like to work for the union representing people. as they have done for me in the past.
