Hey guys I have been looking through reviews of this bike and have been trying to find the TOP SPEED on flat. In the reviews there have been a variety mostly ranging between 50-70 mph.

All owners please state the top speed they reached on their CG please?

It would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I understand your question but there so many variables at play.
The oder CG125's tend to be faster than the newer versions. A big guy wearing a Belstaff jacket will cause more wind drag than a slim dude with a t-shirt and therefor his bike will go slower. Riding into or with the wind yada yada yada.

But to answer your question. I once got 80mph out of an old CG125.

18 stone in full fat bloke weather gear (looking like a tit) on Cg125, managed 50 on the flat/level and 60 (a few seconds later) by putting my head on the speedo. Woot. 60mph.
Confused

For best results thrash in every gear up to the 'gear' mark on the speedo. I didn't suss that out until a few days before I sold the bike - made it much more fun than crawling about and changing up when it sounded mildly strangled, getting passed by milk floats etc.

I suppose you could also try changing the sprocket/gearing but with 11hp you'll never break any land speed records...

As well as putting your chin on the clocks. Try putting your feet on the pillion pegs, arching your shoulders, tucking your right elbow into your ribs and placing your left hand in the small of your back.

This is the 'racing prone' position that 50cc road racers used to use and should be good for another 3-5mph depending on how aerodynamic you are to start with.

At least 55mph in any conditions, 60 on a normal day with a bit of run-up, just under 70 on a good day. That's 12 stone sort of slouching on the bike.
Edit: Forget to mention, this is on an ES4 model.

mine's a 2005 model with about 965 miles on the clock now, so its not properly worn in and the engine is still quite tight and new and ive got 66mph out of it. Max when i first had it was about 55-57mph though

95 CG, with 11'000m and 11.5stone, I got a consistant indicated 60mph on the flat in anything other than a strong headwind. It would sit flat out at 60, all day long, and even on long motorway uphill gradients, it would still manage 55mph, unless it was very windy. Sometimes i got 65mph on the flat with a tailwind, and the downhill prone position speed was 70mph exactly!

Older CG's are faster i definately agree! The fastest ive seen out of a 91 CG was 76mph indicated on a long downhill stretch! Mine did have a high speed intermittant misfire that made it chuff and stutter sometimes but only when it was flat out. Not sure if all the times i kept switching off the ignition in town for a brilliant backfire may have caused that problem?

TBH i was more than impressed that my CG could sit at 60mph easily all day with the throttle on the stop, and also that it would hold over 50mph on almost any hill, once wound up! If it had been equipt with a front disc brake, it would have made for one of the most fun 125's out there!

Just above 50mph on a lesson, dunno what model it was, it was a red 53-plate. Got rollocked by the instructor for not keeping up with the traffic. Then the engine cut out at 55ish cos he'd left the choke out. Luckily the car behind me figured what had happened and he let me glide in front of him and pull up beside the kerb.
