i used to have a logitech cordless mouse and keyboard and the mouse started to play up so i bought a new corded infrared mouse logitech one but now the mouse pointer on the screen suddenly jumps about out of control randomly so i dont think its the mouse thats at fault as this is what it was doing with my old one. could it be a software problem something conflicting with my mouse driver or not

any help will be good thanks

What surface are you using the mouse on? Is it clean?
Have you installed any drivers for it?

Also, check the laser for anything, i.e. a hair.

As stated, make sure you're using a clean, smooth, non reflective surface of uniform colour.

I.E:

Cloth Mouse Pad
Wooden Desk
Piece of paper

As has been said, make sure it's a clean surface your using.

I bought a Func pad and a new mouse a little while ago, but the mouse was getting full of crap at the bottom and would jump about, a good clean up helped no end.

Thumbs Up

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a virus my pc had. I too spent 45 quid on an mx510 mouse to find it still do the same thing! Laughing Was as if my whole pc just stuttered for a second or two.

What sort of wood? Is it smooth (e.g. MDF), or are there grains?

Er, you leave the old mouse connected?

If you did, remove the batts, and carry on using your new one. See if it makes any difference.

Easy way out, you give up too easy. Wink

Have you gone into mouse properties in the Logitech program and set the new mouse up? Also make sure that it has good strong batteries in it (they eat them up) as that causes the pointer to jump about before fou get the low battery warning.

Is there anything else in the area that could be causing interference with the signal? I.e. - speakers next to the receiver, WIFI/ cordless phone etc.

If I put my mouse receiver behind my speaker then it does skip a lot - in front of the speaker and its OK.

My Logitech cordless mouse is playing up too. Just been onto their website and found out it has a 5 year warranty (it's about 2/3 years old) - think I'll be getting a new one sent out next week Smile

Got round to ringing them this morning. They're sending me an entire new Logitech® Cordless Desktop® MX™ 3000 Laser keyboard/mouse combination.

The length of warranty page is here, then you have to phone 0207 3090126 (tech support) - which puts you through to the Netherlands - to get a replacement.
