rip off training centre - can i rent a bike for das?

i am doing my das

took £200 off me for the cbt and assured me that we could rattle through it quickly.

now i passed my cbt and theory today. called him to book the 3 day course (in credit by £100) and there are no dates until september!

i ask him for my £100 back so i can got somewhere else and he says no!

what shall i do?

i have seen i can book test for next week - but can i rent a bike to do it on?

Threaten him with legal action and get your £100 back he sounds like a tosspot!

Many training centres will rent you out a bike but will charge you more if your not training with them.

Ring around and ask if anyone will do it for you.

Are you just going to do the test then with no training?

If you don't get a refund go somewhere else for lessons. Then go back to the place and use your £100 worth of tuition to accidentally run one of his bikes into the wall (obviously hopping off it first).

i paid £110, cheapest i could get, rest of the quotes were £120

I booked mine on Thursday and got it for Friday though, so didnt mind paying £110.

This firm seems like a right bunch of cowboys. Why did they make you pay for more than just a CBT in the first place, and did some of this money cover the theory test or did you pay for that separately?

I can believe though that they have no dates available until September as summer is this busiest time of the year for bike training but their attitude still stinks.

If you paid £200 for ONLY the CBT and then paid extra for the theory test, then you clearly paid too much and there is (probably) nothing you can do about it.
However, if you paid £200 for the CBT and credit for lessons. You should be able to get some of your money back for the services not rendered. If the extra money was taken as a deposit, you can definitely get the deposit back. In UK law, deposits are refundable.
In my work (photographer) I never take deposits. I always take 'booking fees' as they are not refundable. In this case, simply threatening him with the trading standards and reporting him to the DSA should be enough to make him reconsider.

PS I understand how you may feel very confident about taking a practical test so early after completing your CBT, but I really do think a couple of training sessions will be very beneficial. From what I have heard from other newbies, there is quite alot to learn even for a seasoned rider.

thanks for that, he was suppose to phone me tuesday with new dates too.

yes i paid £100 for cbt and £100 credit for new lessons.

i have booked 2 days and a test on the 10th aug with another guy from yell.com

just him, seems a nice guy and i think it will be one to one training.

if i pass then i will get heavy on the other place not refunding me.
if i don't pass - i will prob ask them to book a test using the money!
