First time I've posted a poll, so sorry if it's no good.

I've been out on the bike and as with most evenings, I've stopped for a pint (Sometimes two). I'll not ride with more than two pints in my system. My head is clear, and it's always evening so I've had a good dinner. (I'm just trying to justify things here!) I find awareness is up as I know I'm bordering on being over the limit (They should make the limit zero, but that's another story). I feel so much more relaxed, riding is a more pleasant experience. i'm not racing anywhere, just enjoying the ride.

Anyway, there's always beer at home, so I'll sink a few at home while browsing the net or watching the goggle box. Maybe a further two or three pints. Now this is more or less every other night.

To the point, what i'm trying to find out is what is normal (average) alcohol intake with BCFers. I'm averaging about 20 pints in a week, and I drink Guinness. No wonder I'm carrying a bit too much weight.

About 5 pints a week, give or take 5 pints.

Used to be about 3 to 8 pints a week, now I've started working in a pub it's at least 10 a week, more like 15 or 20 half the time. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Oh and whilst I don't mind driving on a couple of pints, riding a bike is too involved for me to be drinking before riding. I'll have a Carlsberg shandy if I'm riding, and I tend to have a Coke or 2 afterwards anyway.

If there's beer in the fridge I'll have maybe two or three cans at home after work... but very often go weeks with no alcohol at all.

It depends really. Working in a pub is great but it dose have its downfalls. On avarage I will have around 10 pints a week give or take after work. But, when I used to go out at weekends I would do 70 quid a night on booze, thus being mainly shots.
Calmed down a bit now. 22 y/o and I jsut cant handle the booze like i used to Embarassed

Hmmm, bit difficult to answer for me as I am not a regular drinker!

I will go for weeks without any alcohol at all, then go to a rally, party or night out and quite happily down loads of the stuff.

Tend to take it a bit easier these days though because the hangovers are a lot worse than they used to be. I am thinking maybe this is because my drinking is so irregular my body isn't used to it any more and reacts accordingly.

Guess I am what you would define as a binge drinker (occasional).

i had a free house to myself last year and averaged 10 cans a night Surprised

and when i go to footy games esp away games, i usually intake a minimum of 10pints over the day, which gets me rat arsed

but i dont drink so much, go pub friday and saturday but if its crap i tend to make the drink last, so id say 10pints a week

if i go town or something though, that goes up

when riding, i drink no more than 2.

I've had a lot of bad stuff happen in my life over the past two and a half years and my drinking was getting out of control.

On an average week i was consuming 32 pints, but sometimes if i was having a bad time that would climb around 50 pints Sad

I'm not drinking during the week at all as of this week and i'm not finding it easy, but i need to cut down.

EDIT: I don't ride if i've had more than one pint

Is this just a pint poll? What about wine etc?

I tend to drink when I have booze, thing is i'm always fixing peoples computers and always get paid in beer/wine/guiness, walked in to my office other day to find 16 pint cans of guiness for an hour of my time.

If I have booze i'll drink it, but only at night, never in the day.

I don't drink spirits at all.

If I'm out for a ride in the evening before dinner I'll usually just take a couple cans of Tennents Super, I'll stop off somewhere nice and have a quick drink. It's amazing how much courage you have after a couple of those bad boys. Nothing gets in my way.

Laughing Not really.

As I'm sure with a lot of people I used to drink heavily when I was younger 17-22, after that the body says no more thanks and a couple is enough.

I go through periods of drinking a couple of ales every other night but not at the mo because I was getting fat. I save it to the weekend and have about 4/5 on a Friday then maybe 1 or 2 on sunday afternoon.

I find drinking around other drinking people great, if i dont drink, i find them annoying....so...i drink quite a bit.

I think i am on a steady 20 or so pints a week, i don't have one pint and ride, i'll only have a coke.
I think you don't need a pint if you're quickly meeting someone for something.
As i drink spirits quite often as well my units are very high, i loose count. Confused

I'll usually go out for an average of four on a weeknight (although this varies). More at a weekend, especially if I'm on a club run or at a rally (lots more).

This is tempered by the fact that I work on call one night in three and one weekend in three. So I'll probably have six or seven tonight then nothing 'till monday night because I'm on call.

between 10-15 alocholic drinks per week. Im currently off work unable to walk without crutches so after a few beers i provide free entertainment to the gathered masses.
Ive only ever had one drink and then driven and i felt so guilty i wouldnt do it again, felt like id kicked a puppy or something...

Just a point of order.

You don't have to drink a huge amount of alcohol to be an alcoholic. It could be a fairly small amount, the point is an alcoholic is unable to not drink

Don't really drink beer in large quantities, prefer spirits (well, whiskey's and bourbons). I guess on average I'll have about 10-20 units a week.
