An important point with iridium plugs is to just buy the right ones for your bike and just put them in. DO NOT check the gap, do not adjust the gap. Both of these will scratch and maybe remove the iridium coating.

How much Shocked Sparks are usually only £5 or so. The irridiums are around £7 - 8.

Iridiums help starting definitely.

Also good when your fiddling with jetting/fuelling as they are more tolerant of over rich mixture. You can still read them like normal plugs, they allow you to take the safer rich first then lean down route.

I use an ER5 for my daily commute and just changed the sparks (normal ones) last week. The bike lives outside all the time so should I consider changing to iridium plugs for those cold hard winters?

Cheers

One other thing worth noting is that, should you manage to scratch the iridium coating, on the thread for example. The soft iron core will melt like a snowball in the Bahamas and your bike will not run at all.

You can't clean them, you can't gap them.

Cheers

No. HT leads should be clean and free from corrrosion but that's all, no HT leads made of 'carboxyberilium' or any other bollocks name will make any difference.

Cheers

Im running accel aftermarket coils with carbon graphite leads, and the coils can also use copper leads.

No performance difference, graphite leads are just more flexible and dont corrode like copper ones. They also reduce electrical noise emission also. (ive fitted non resistor sparkplugs since, due to my race ignition eating them)

Just make sure whatever you have is in good nick. Copper lead is chepa to replace.
