...in corners.

I have been playing with the bike's tyres for a while now, wondering how far you can push it.

The ZX7 is planted on corners, as long as the road is dry and tyres hot you can really go hard into them.
Using slip roads from a motorway i was pushing 70+ round the bend that joins onto the dual carridgeway, feels good, feels stuck.

Im not sure if i really know the feel of the wall of the tyre yet, there is only a few mm to the edge it seems on my tyre, but i dont know when i'm doing it.
You can go round a lot of bends on the ZX7 without your knee too near the ground to travel near the wall.

I guess you can't say a certain speed for each corner because of the many factors on the British road but i think maybe i dont give the bike/tyres enough credit on some corners.

What's your take on speed and corners?

Its hard to say really. I got to know my 7R really well and developed a style of riding specific to that bike, which incidentally i'm still trying to get rid of, that helped me gauge lean angle quite well.

The pegs on the 7R are a clear indication of almost full lean for road tires, when i started to scrape my pegs i noticed my tires were used right to the edge and so i started hanging off.

I don't hang off very far in general and don't stick my knee out too much either either but on they went down easily on the 7R because i was getting really far over.

So to give me an idea that i was approaching full lean i hung off in the usual way but stuck my knee out a bit further than normal and when it touched down i knew my peg wasn't far off and hence the edge of my tyre wasn't far off.

This doesn't work for my ZX10R and i haven't sussed out where the edge of the tyre is yet.

I'd have to say I'm still completely blind when it comes to lean angles and speeds on my bike.
I have sometimes been 90 round a bend that I was previously wobbling round at 60 thinking I was near death.
I've really tried on roundabouts, but then scraped the peg when I thought I was nowhere near. I has given me motivation to get my knee on the ground but I still havent. I do want to know where the tyres are as it came as a big suprise that the peg could touch down.

The ZXR400 is great on a smooth bit of road, I can really feel the tyres, but anything like a bump, seam or imperfection in the surface and it/I overreact.

My once favourite roundabout's surface has deteriorated enough in less than a year for me to notice a big difference. I'm on the hunt for a new one!

My um, ancient milf of a cbr uses its sidewall on fast corners, but then the rear is only a 140 pegs scrape to easily, but could be down to sagging rear shock. Amazed it handles so well not exactly in zxr territory but I'm shocked at the speed it carries through bends, though it does deck out.

On the ZXR I never felt like I was getting near the limit, though the rear tyre was indeed devoid of chicken strips on the left side and the pegs did scrape unexpectedly from time to time.
