Hey, I got back from Kenya on friday night and found that when I tried to view all of my photos, some came up as "No preview available" its only some of the photos that display this and their thumbnail image doesnt display. Ive had this problem with my sisters camera also. Is there a sort of universal picture viewer that I need or a memory card unlocking tool or something? Please help! Here's a pic of what my folder looks like at the minute

Next time some thumbnails don't load, try scrolling up or down so that you can no longer see the them, and then scroll back.

Just a thought, but are the file sizes much higher than those which do display?

Sounds like someone's either installed some software that's overwritten the JPG decoding codec, or those pics are actually corrupt...

If they display fine on cam, could be just incorrect extension appended for some odd reason...

Try renaming the culprits to .raw instead of .jpg and open with PaintShop Pro or Photoshop... failing that, try renaming to .tif and .bmp

Can't imagine a camera producing pix in any other format than those 4...

Okay, here are two options. These tools should do the trick.
RiteRecovery should allow you to recover the image from the camera / SD card undamaged.
Or if the original (on camera) is damaged then this can repair the image. However, i would suggest RiteRecovery first.
    PixRecovery
If you follow the links there are demo version's. Try them - if they work then i can point you towards the full version. (Demo will allow a limited amount of recover's and will stamp DEMO across them.)
