Did you send me a deposit Sparkie?

If not, you might want to ring the Ambleside Youth Hostel and try and book a room.

Drop me a PM if you need details.

I've been away and only just picked up my Hotmail emails and found the one from you, so no, I won't have Crying or Very sad

I take it you've just booked rooms for those you have had deposits from... in which case I'll get Ambleside on the dog and bone.

Apologies to all but i'm going to be bowing out of this one. Just got too much on at the moment to be giving up a weekend.

Loply, don't know if Spacky has spoken to you yet but I've organised for him to use my existing booking for himself to save the cancellation.

Have a good time.

Rick.

You wont be thinking that when you are slogging up a 30% incline on Harknott pass in second gear with the temperature guage hovering on the red when you could be lazily winding on and off the throttle on your big single.

You could go up to Heartside cafe for your lunch on Saturday.

I'd have joined up with you lot for a ride out but I have family commitments that weekend.

Sparkie, what address did you email me on? Didn't receive anything...

Can everybody please post or PM to confirm they're able to make a 12pm, thats 12-noon, rendezvous time in Ambleside (TBC).

Also if everybody wants to PM me their mobile number, and add mine ( Rich) in case it's needed.

That's ok as he can borrow an SV from either myself or villers - they make short work of sutton bank (25%) so hardknott pass shouldn't be to hard.... hopefully Wink

But you should try Chimney Bank near Rosedale Abbey... at 33% that IS steep and if i'm right the steepest in the UK?

It's somewhere near here mate:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=LA22+0EU&ie=UTF8&ll=54.419373,-2.961781&spn=1.431943,5.075684&om=1

Not sure exactly where as the map is a bit poor, but we'll find it I'm sure.

Nah.... this is the line you might take...

https://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/extreme3d51/hard1.jpg

I on the other hand would take this to ensure a sudden and dire lean angle which almost guarantees a nice peg or maybe even an R&g down Cool Laughing

Its a shame ive only seen this now or i would have altered plans and come down this week but ive just got back from the lake district from this weekend past.

I agree with stinkwheel

I definately recommend wrynose and hardknott pass as its a very good riding challenge. There isnt much chance of pegs down through the corners Laughing . Single narrow track road carving through the valley/moor with tight tight steep steep downward and upward short hairpins. It started off just as a sheep trail as far as i have been told.

There is a campsite on the other end of harknott pass from Ambleside that i would recommend: https://www.fishergroundcampsite.co.uk/ pubs within walking distance, campfires and open to bikers

I also recommend a run up along Ulswater which is a nice road, then from Penrith going along the A686 to have a coffee at the famous hartside cafe: https://www.hartside.com/hartside.html

Have fun Wink Thumbs Up

Since there aren't any detailed plans, it looks like we're just going to make this up as we go along.

Can someone bring a map? - I would but don't have a tank bag for the Thunderace yet.

I'll bring a map and whatnot, and we'll decide where to go but obviouslly the famous mountain passes will be on the destination list.

Laughing Then the last thing you want is to ride your SV. There is something about it's V-twin vibes that seem to exactly match the movement of the bowels, especially when you need to go Wink
