I've been trying to get into the local music scene supporting unknown bands and suchlike but I have no idea where to start! Anyone know of any good places down in the South East where good hard rock bands play or could someone recommend me a good band? I like bands like Deftones, System of a Down, Chevelle etc - know of anything similiar in england?

Sign up for MySpace mate. You get loads of new local bands on there and a lot will look at your friends/profile and send you links to their page so you can check them out. I've found some cracking new rock music through there and been to some good gigs too.

go here https://www.myspace.com/

click on the orange sign up link and then create your own page.
After that try searching for your favourite bands and then send them a friend request to be added to their friend lists. It sort of snowballs but the more people you add the more are likely to find you out

If you like hard rock try this link https://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=33859624&MyToken=4ed2deb6-3577-4a03-b74d-2a7afecc2420

or this one https://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=22724399&MyToken=4ed2deb6-3577-4a03-b74d-2a7afecc2420

Most bands have a myspace page so you will find loads of your favourites on there

Theres always a few clubs that prodomenantly play harder music. It's just a case of looking at fliers or asking around when the next night is, quite a lot of nights will run once a month with the same organisers but different bands playing.

Old Thread Alert!
