Right. I am fed up with sticking shades under my helmet so I am planning on getting a tinted visor. Now I am aware of the legal implications of this but I am not sure on just how tinted the visors would actually be. The choice I have is either a semi-tint or a dark-tint, but what I don't want to do is either buy the light one and find it's almost clear, or vica-versa.

I e-mailed the people at www.thevisorshop.com but they had no pictures and were not willing to take any for me. This to me is stupid as I am not about to purchase a product I have not seen. They don't even have a basic picture on their website !!

Normally I would go into my local bike supplies shop but the helmet is an X-Lite X-902 and they do not deal with Nolan-Xlite.

I'd just go and get the tinted visor, if your that worried about being stopped, carry your clear one with you.

These days I very rarely use a clear visor, I have a dark visor which gets used most of the time and a smoked visor (road legal) which gets used at night etc..

They are also good for when you get blown away off the lights by a moped Laughing

A road legal light tint is hardly worth it in my opinion. It is only very slightly tinted and doesn't seem to make that much difference. A dark tint or black on the other hand are the really dark ones that you see people using. These are the better option in my opinion because they cut the vast majority of the sunlight out. But don't even think about using it at night or in poor weather conditions as you can't see an awful lot.

You won't get very good pictures or photos from the sites selling visors on the internet, its more a game of chance. I have bought both a dark tint and an iridium style visor and had no problems with either. I do recommend the dark tint over the iridium because they are easier to clean and you don't have to be so careful handling the dark tinted one.

The site I bought mine from was www.racevisors.co.uk Also as well as www.thevisorshop.com which you already know about there is www.offshoremotorcycleparts.com who also sell visors.

Road legal tint is pointless, the sun still hurts your eyes, and people can see your face Thumbs Down

Once you've ridden in sunny conditions with a proper dark visor you wont go back. Makes everything look more summery somehow too Thumbs Up Shocked

I used to have a Caberg V2 and the use of a tinted visor is an absolute must when riding in sunny conditions. Got me a Tackechi now and next on the list will be a inted visor to match as I'v tried once to ride with specs on and it killed my ears and nearly bent the frames.

I've seen a road tinted visor on another rider and it looked pants. Just carry the clear for the police if they stop you Wink

Yeah carrying a clear visor should help smooth things over if you get pulled. Has always worked for me... sometimes the copper will even let you carry on with the tint visor, asking you to "swap em over if your out until dark" Wink Thumbs Up

Why would anyone want to ride in the dark wearing sunglasses? Of course you would want to change over for the clear one, right Shifty

A road legal tint is certainly much better than clear and is good 90% of the time - but if you're riding directly into the sun in the morning/evening when it's low in the sky, you'll still wish you had your sunglasses on as well. I have a road legal tinted Arai visor.

Unfortunately I think you now risk points with the little things you used to just get a fine for - like riding with a dark visor or small plate.

The reason a dark tinted visor is illegal is that it isn't BSI/EU approved - which visors (and car windscreens) have to be. To stay legal you could buy a legal (light tint) visor and then use a light tint insert behind it.

I'm surprised there isn't a decent photochromatic (reactolite / transition) visor on the market. I know fogcity make a "hyperoptic" insert.

get the full tint coppers are generally clued up enough to realise that you see more with a full tinted visor in sunny conditions anyway

if the thought of getting pulled bothers you that much carry your clear one as previously said. you dont need a visor carrier just an old sock and slip inside your jacket haven't lost mine yet Thumbs Up

I have shades with straight arms so they go on easily under my helmet. Shoei helmets make it easier too. Shades rock.

If it's in ya jacket I don't think I could be arsed to be honest.

Or can you slip em under the seat ? do they fit?

Wouldn't that stop ya from leaning forward over the tank. Even my mobile phone in my inside jacket pocket gives me the shits when Im over the tank and i can feel it in the way.

When I'm out for a ride I hate having to take anything more than I have to. Something down my jacket would just shit me to tears I think.

Under the seat might be cool and I ain't takin a poofy bag on me back neither Embarassed

Just buy a dark visor and stop worrying!

I've been stood next to police with my dark visor on my lid, and even spoken to one when I had to move round a diversion before and never been told anything.

I always carry my clear one with me, but that's for if it gets dark.

You'd have to catch a police officer on a really bad day to get done for it.
