My brother-in-law has been away on holiday last week. When he came back, he discovered that this has happened to his house! Shocked

Is that how to make an entrance?
By Rebecca Kelly

A CAR made a dramatic entrance when it plunged through the living room of a house.

But the residents, who are on holiday, know nothing about the disaster.

A black fiat Punto crashed into the house, on Fairfield Road, on Sunday evening.

The driver, a 35-year-old man from Lymm, and his passenger, a 20-year-old man from Stockton Heath, were taken to Warrington Hospital with minor injuries.

Steve Polhill, who lives on Fairfield Road, helped the passenger get out of the house just before part of the front wall crumbled and fell to the ground.

He said: "A lintel that holds the house up had gone through the windscreen. It had grazed the driver's head.

"He was in shock and kept saying, I think I'm dead.' It's remarkable that he wasn't. Both lads had bad cuts where the windscreen had shattered with the impact."

Sergeant Mike Jones, of Warrington police traffic unit, said: "The incident caused a lot of damage to the house. We are now investigating the cause of it and asking anyone with information to get in touch."

It is believed the car was travelling along Fairfield Road from the swing bridge but failed to make the sharp right hand turn and went through a hedge.

A spokesman for Stockton Heath fire station said: "As the building could have been structurally unsound, we could not get in and instead assisted paramedics."

Anyone with informationshould call PC Derek Arnold on 652222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
