Buying a higher mileage bike?

What would you consider a high mileage for a 400?

Im looking for a bike for when ive passed my test but dont have alot to spend on one so they are tending to be higher mileage.

What would be too high and present too many problems, at the minute im looking at Bandit 400's and Bros 400's any other suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

If it's a honda anything over 50k is high millage.

If used regularly and well serviced, millage isn't that much of a concern. A 5 year old bike sat in a yard doing nothing is likely to cause you more problems.

Depends on condition and how well it's been maintained. My NC30 was showing over 75,000 with no knocks, bangs, noises, smoke.....the only thing to go pop was the rectifier (they all do that).

Can't say the same for other manufacturers as I haven't owned one long enough.

Why limit yourself to 400?
For instance the Bros 650 will probably make about the same power as the Bandit 400.
Seems an odd way to choose a bike.

Generally it's more important how well the bike's been treated than the number on the odometer.

400cc bikes are often more expensive than similar other bikes, mostly because a lot of people choose their first bike based on cc, rather than other factors.

Most 400cc road bikes are over 33hp. The bandit definitely is.

I bought a high milage '91 ZXR and that blew up so maybe not the best idea to buy a high miler unless the service history supports it

20-30 miles thats manchester , hold on your not that git on a red CG who always filters faster than me most evenings? , those CGs are tiny and fit in spaces only a courier can get an NTV in.
