The future of biking...

Anyone wondering about what we'll be riding 20 years from now? I found this concept site (and there are many more)

I especially like the concept ZX-10, which was drawn up in 2000 but still looks futuristic. The exhaust has remained on the side of the bike even today, but will it maybe turn into the ZX-6 and get the under seat version? I personally think they make the bikes look a lot more streamlined and balance out the weight better.

I'm still hoping for bikes that you lie down on to ride. Ever played any of the Extreme G series? (N64 through to Xbox) Would love to ride some of those!

So, what are peoples thoughts on bikes of the future?

the things you see in Masumne shirows graphic novels, ie bikes where engines are in the hubs of wheels , magnet drive (contactless no more heavy shafts or chains) , super low clip ons and far back rear sets to reduce drag so you essentially superman on the bike,

and more stuff like the Tesi from bimoto, while Me and some other rat bikers will still be on their rats.

The way that Ducati and Truimph are making newly updated versions of the classics, in 20 years time it'll be an updated version of the '98 R1

I reckon there's too much of the metal frame on show. A single fairing panel covering it would look good. Depends what style of bike you're into I suppose.

IMO the future of biking is in something like this...

1400cc, 100hp, turbo and diesel.

I can see that sort of thing being put into tourers and eventually into something more sporty. ATM in the cruiser setup the 0-60mph time is 4.5 seconds.

I also think there needs to be more and better development of the suspension. Perhaps along the lines of the BMW duolever. I believe Ducati and other makers are looking into something similar as it frees up a lot of space for the air intake/airbox. So more air could mean bigger/better bangs in the engine which means more power and speed

That diesel bike is hideous; over engineered, its big its heavy its over complex, and it'll sound like a tractor/ducati Thats a lot of effort to reach 100bhp lol. I think there are 1.4 diesel cars with more power than that (correct me if I'm wrong)...

hmm i dont know any figures but diesel cars tend to be higher capacity than 1400cc i alwyas thought, because diesel is crap and underpowered (petrol is the king!) although i do liek the look of that bike

The new derbi mulhacen bike is slightly similar to them and suzuki have a concept section on there site which is along the same lines as these bikes.

I prefer the looks of the 06 gsxr and r6 compared to these bikes anyday though.
