Hi all, just another rant at the stupidity of the DVLA ...

Went to register today with all my Docs:

Dating Letter
MOT
Insurence Cert.
Driving Lic. (For Identity)
Invoice from Dealer.

Filled in V55/5
Filled in VAT414

All going well ...

The women i was speaking to didn't a bloody idea wtf she was spose to be doing and asked an assortment of different people ...

Ended up having to book in some kind of Inspection, not an SVA or anything, but somehow to porve its date is true ...

There is no way other than checking with Aprilia and he apparently doesnt do that because it could take along time, so im expecting:

"let me just look at your bike"

"yes, it looks old"

"now you can go"

woohoo ...

I might be going a bit over the top and maybe being a bit unfair, but nothing of this was mentioned on there website as this isn't SVA or anything.

Now i have to somehow get my bike 60-70 miles up to nottingham for 10am through rush hour (ish...) ...

And get this, its not for this thursday but next thursday!

2Frekin weeks and my insurence group need the details by This thursday which did pose an issue, until we contacted the Group and they were very understanding, at least there are some helpfull organisations ...

Sory for my rant and appolgise to any DVLA workers Razz ...

This is just becomming a nightmare, but i still love my bike Razz ...

Thanks alot.

Luke.
Thumbs Up

So what inspection have you booked it in for? You havn't made it clear??

Is it with VOSA, if so they will go over the bike with a fine tooth comb so it better be 100% as they know all the trick. Reading it again it sounds like the VOSA one they check the identity if the bike matches the documents, also they will check for road worthiness (like an MOT but much stricter). Being run by the govenment don't be late for the appointment as they will turn you away with a smile on their faces and you will probably have to wait a few weeks for a re-test. Wink

Sometimes DVLA just want to see the bike to make sure it exists.

As to knowing which test it actually is for i havent a clue ... The lady didnt make it clear, we have to take it to the DVLA centre and some guy who comes to DVLA nottingham a few times every week just checks it, i dought it can be a full test like unles they have a full workshop there as we have to take it to the DVLA and the guy checks it there ...

I know they'renot the brightest bulb in the packet but i thought as i went to the nottingham place they might have a little more brains, they might have guns comming out of there ears as is gun capital of UK, but i thought they may have more brains and a bit more thought towards maybe letting things through ...

And more of a will to help, lol ...

Ohh ... well, i'll have to join the RSDVLAH (Royal Society for DVLA Haters Razz) ...

Lets hope in two weeks ill finally be riding on the road {legally} ...

Hi

I did mention this inspection. It will litterally be a few minutes. Basically to check the chassis number. Seems to be totally random as to whether they bother.

All the best

Keith

Ahh ... i thought you were mainly on about the SVA, i didnt realise they also did this absolutely pointless inspection if thats all they do ...

Another two weeks untill i can ride just because they want some overpaid bloke to read the chassis number ... They should of said and i could of brought the forks down lol Razz ...

That really is pointless Rolling Eyes ...

Ohh ... well, i have to ride it at least once in that time as i hav to go to me grans ASAP, so my dads plates will be used then, plus in ountry way, so maybe less bacon ...

I only hope it is this test, not the SVA or even the VOSA test that someone else mentioned on here ...

Also to the randomness of this test (if it is this one), apparently they have to do this to everybike Neutral ...

I highly dought they do because as they Register 9,000,000 vehicles a year as advertised by them ... then thats alot of chassis numbers to look at, ohh ... well, guess i got the short straw yet again, but im learning that i should buy a English Reg'd bike Rolling Eyes ... Razz

Thanks.

Hi

They only bothered once out of the 3 vehicles I registered. One I had with me and they said "we might want to inspect it" but they would still have insisted on an appointment a week or so later.

All the best

Keith
