Just been recovering after an operation (should be back at work but might as well milk it)

Thought it was time to take out the exhaust restrictor. Fine, looks nice and simple on NSR125.com.

Jeeeeezus, 2 1/2 hours, several shaved knuckles and one broken gasket later I get it done. Just got to wait for a new gasket to be sent now - DOH!

Anyone else done this before? Be interesting to gauge how long I took against other people?

It certainly was an arse to get out. Laughing The first one I done took me about an hour and a half I reckon. The second time, about 20 minutes. Wink

EDIT - BTW, these times were just for getting the exhaust restrictor out.

It took about 15 minutes to remove the exhaust, then I cheated and took an oxy-acetylene torch to it (took about 5 minutes to get it out). Add another 15 minutes tiding up and 20 minutes puting it all back together. So 45 minutes total.

Hmmmmm, oxy-acetylene torch. Wonder if I can get one from Halfords Thinking

My lack of toolage certainly showed. Whilst freeing up the restrictor was ok, lack of a file type thing left me chewing at the remaing weld with the side of the drill bit trying to get the restrictor to pass through.

I need a bastard file........... Laughing (always made me snigger in metalwork - back in the day)

after drilling the holes through the welds I had to get a jigsaw and saw out the rest. Took bloody ages, I broke the blade and had to go out and buy a new one too. Definitely took me a few hours.

Tis a bastard indeed. It took me ages and about 5 drill bits, plus filing, plus blowtorch to get it out.

It's the same on my cagiva planet, but the welds were concealed pretty well, and the collare was angled which meant the drill slipped quite a bit. I just twatted it with a big hammer and an old blunted screwdriver. cane out in about 30 minutes.
