Interesting to see a mod posting replies in the Exchange & Mart.

If it's good enough for them to tear up the rules, then tear them up for the rest of us, eh?

It was directly related to the request though which was the initial issue with locking the for sale section.

One rule for us, one rule for you. Damn right. What, did you think this was a democracy or something?

If you'd had to do the dirty, smelly and frankly sticky things we did to become mods, you'd want some damn good rewards.

Funny this thread has popped up. I wanted to reply this morning about the 42u rack for sale, but it wouldn't let me. Decided not to bother with a PM.

They go well on EBay - but it needs a picture and most importantly a measurement of depth. It'll raise far more with those added.

Glad you understand how it works.

When you've moved to Reading, paid the extra clique membership fees (surcharge if you use pay pal), learnt the secret handshake and been a slave to another clique member for 6 months, you too can also get to reply in the for sale section.

If you want the truth and those of faith or with a weak nature, I'd suggest you look away now, as disilluisonment of your whole world view can take it's toll....
I forgot.
Yes, that's right, without the helpful message other users get, even a moderator can forget which sections they shouldn't reply in!

Personally I don't like the way it works now, but then nor did I like that every other for sale thread had someone laying into the seller - and don't think that was very fair either.

It's a crazy idea, but maybe if the moderators actually moderated that section..?

Like I said, a crazy idea...

A crazy idea indeed

If we're talking repeatedly deleting people's message's and such like, then we'd get a lot of people complaining about favouritism, starting more threads complaining about how the moderators didn't delete someone else's post, how their point was valid and such like.

We've seen enough flame wars starting from moderating things that are relatively less important than whether people should spend a few grand on a bike.

One of the features that many people like about BCF is that what you see is what you get pretty much what you get - thanks to Fights and Flame wars etc, pretty much no posts apart from spam ones have to be deleted.

Basically, as has been said, it's not a democracy, I don't make the rules, the person that has spent a load of time and money making it what it is, does Smile.

this is the usual sort of thing that pops up on forums, i'm an admin on a wheelie forum and besides altering the forum and up grading the members etc (all approved beforehand by the members) everyone has the same scope to post and reply, admins and mods should not be seen as any better than the members, admins keep the site running properly and mods keep their part of the forum running properly and to board guidelines, we recently removed a mods rights because he kept bumping only his mates threads and pinning them despite several warnings, keep it sweet and it will keep going Very Happy

Chuff - there was a big hoo-har about there being a 'clique' based in Reading (can't think why they decided that Whistle ) - basically some friends, some of which were mods/admin often met up, as friends do.

Despite the fact there was pretty much universally invites to everyone on the forum, this was seen as a bad thing.

Kev:
By their nature, Mods have to be have greater powers than other users. Little point having a mod that can't do more than a regular user. The trick is to remember you have those powers Smile.
