Ive just been browsing the internet, been on Limewire and downloaded a few songs etc.

Then about 5 minutes ago, I started getting shit like this poping up... (see attachment)

Does anybody know of any good virus programmes which detect AND kill virus as apposed to detect then try and rip your fucking trousers off with a "save 50% and buy now for $33.99" bollocks.

Ta... Mr. Green

p.s. In my quick menu it says ive got Norton antivirus, but its expeired, and its like £40 for an update. and im poor! Razz

That's not a virus. It looks as if somehow a script/piece of software has entered your system. It's exactly the same as the ones you see on some websites. I suggest you find the files for whatever is causing the pop up, and delete them (including any registry entries).

I doubt you'll be able to find the files through normal browsing in Windows Explorer, so have a look in system processes (ctrl+alt+del), and investigate anything that looks odd. Also try looking at the startup programs (start > run > msconfig),

Try AVG. The free edition is very good.

You need an anti-spyware program though. I use the free Microsoft one, Windows Defender.

And while you're at it, scan for any spyware you may have on your computer.

(as you use P2P software, it's almost a certainty).

https://www.safetyhomepage.com/

ive even tried re-setting it to Google, but its not having it.
All the "free" downloads only alow a free scan though, then after it finds 91 "sever" files on the system, it starts demanding money to remove them! Evil or Very Mad

You'll need to restart in safe mode and run the AGV and Adaware programs.

While you're in safe mode you'll need to clear all temporay files. Do a disk clear up while you're at it.

M$ Antispyware is also handy.

Oh, remove that link as silly people who don't read things will download the shizzle that you've already downloaded.

I've got something strange on mine. It asks for MSN passport inforomation when i start poking around the windows or program files folder.

Need a lil help.

Just ran both AGV and Adaware. AGV found nothing, Adaware found 3.

Deleted them.

IE still loads up with that naff site trying to sell me software, and upon shutdown, im getting about 100 warning windows saying "file 548590435349.exe failed to instalize because windows is shutting down"...

How do I start up in safe mode. and In cagiva gezzers link, theres a crack for some virus software, I dont know how to get the crack from it though. any help? Confused

I can open the patch up, Im just unsure on how to "run" it. The insturctions arent "simple" enough. Embarassed

Ive ran ad-aware, Its deleted 32 files, and STILL im getting this damn shitty website come up every time I try to go on Google which is supposed to be my home page.

That Nod32 is good, its stopping things, but Im not getting on with it "interface" wise. Quite strange to work the programme.

How do I start up in safe mode then?

Ta people! Smile

"Hijackthis" is good for sorting out browsers that have been redirected.

Post your running processes and someone might be able to point out whats wrong.

That pop up is in the same style as that link you just gave. You've downloaded a bunch of skank, you just need to know what/where it is.

Binge....

Spybot S&D is much better than Adaware but still worth running both every week!! plus these..

ASquared

Spywareblaster

And another good AV to use better than NORTON by far Avast. Plus an out of date Antivirus program may as not be on there as the definitions are not going to stop shit. Un install it(good luck) and put something better on.

All the above are free, plus use the windows Defender.

When you have downloaded all the programs UPDATE them before you use them!

Also go into SAFE MODE and turn system restore off or you are just wasting your time.

The Antivirus should be on all the time BUT ONLY RUN ONE ON YOUR PC or you will get problems,

Make sure you are using a Firewall too. Can't see one in your system tray?!? Get one its more important than an Antivirus as it hides your pc from everyone. Try this if you havent got one..Zone Alarm Free version Update this also as soon as you run it.

ANYTHING you download from Limewire or any filesharing/Torrent aplication scan it first for viruses!

Never download Exe. files, always download Zip or Rar files as they can be scanned before you open tem and deleted if they have a Virus, you cant do that with exe. files they will put the virus straight on your PC.

Just a pop up, trying to get your money. Might be worth getting a pop up stopper to or as others have said use Firefox or opera as they have built in good ones.

Right, Ive ran all the Virus and adaware software, Downloaded Firefox and running it as default.

Its running better, No popups as of yet. It dont half take a long time to start up though does firefox.

Hopefully all is good. Just gona run a quick Disk clean up, and then its time to delete the 2 unused accounts. and the puta should be sound. Cheers for the help...
