Right guys,

I've found a rather special piece that would be of high value to a collector and its rather costly...about 5K. Now the supplier of this needs payment up front to release it, however I would like to bung it on Ebay to see how much it would get and pocket the profit....but I don't own it to sell it (you might see where I'm going with this).

Now what would the potential pitfalls and legal problems I could encounter if I brassed knecked it and put the item up for grabs on Ebay anyway? I'd start the price at the actual asking price so other than my time and ebay costs, if it made a profit I could deliver it and no one would be any the wiser.

Am I being mental or is this a plan worth investigating? More over could I get royally fucked for trying this as I think the profit could be in the thousands.

Craig

Put it on ebay but say it is advertised elsewhere and may be pulled
out early.

It isnt yours to sell

Im assuming you dont have the 5k to buy it, so what happens if your eBay buyer demands the property and money for it are exchanged at the same time?

If you're confident of making thousands why not borrow the money first.

do you know for sure if the item is really worth £5k or has someone told "its a steal and he'll part with it for half that"

this could be the start of a very old con Shocked be very careful how you proceed.

get the streets new album and listen to

"you can't con an honest john"

this will explain exactly how this scam works if indeed it is a scam it might be perfectly ligit but it probably isn't

Confused you don't have a financial interest in the property, so you cannot offer it up for sale. To do so would be fraudulent. Interesting fact - Somebody sold the Eiffel tower for scrap once. Then that person sold it to someone else, and due to the french laws that person owned it 100%. I heard that the french people had to buy it back from the new owner ( Mr. Green hehe bloody french). Since then international financial interest law has been a bit techey. Dont push it or if the sale went tits up, you could be looking at 5 years of soapy arses. Wink

lol, after a discussion with my ex (who was is a solicitor), she informed me that it would breach fraud laws and possibly cause an investigation of money laundering too! Anyway I gave up on the idea. Anyway the item in question was (and get this, I shit you not).............................. The full nose cone section from Concorde.

However this version was taken from a replica built by Concorde and was used to test the final version to ensure it worked. A flown Concorde nose was sold for something silly like £300 000. The reason it was going for cheap? Its languishing in a wholesellers inventory and I assume they have neither the time nor the want to find the proper kind of customer.

Ah well, one can dream Laughing
