Just got back from Merry Hill (shopping centre).
There is only one designated motorcycle parking area for the whole centre and i arrived to find two card parked in it
One was a BMW ( ) and the other was a Rover with an old woman waiting in the passanger side. I then noticed that a learner bike had parked right behind the BMW, blocking it in. I looked at the old woman and shook my head, then went off to find a regular parking space - no luck there, so i returned to the motorcycle paring area to see if the Rover had gone - no luck there either.
Then i noticed that the owner of the BMW had returned to find he couldnt get out I started laughing to myself becuause he just didnt know what to do and looked really lost.
I parked on a footway next to a cruiser thing and decided to watch the frustrated driver. He then got a bit pissed off and grabbed the bike and begun to wheel it forward. If there had been a disk lock on the bike the front mudguard would have smashed into pieces because he showed no care when moving it. Also, if the stand had been a spring loaded one (like on my 50cc) the bike would have just fell over as he didnt check to put the stand down. He then got into his car and tried to reverse out through a tiny gap, but failed. He got out of his car, grabbed the bike and wheeled it backwards and left the back end of the bike sticking out into the road bit of the car park.
He got in his car and drove off. ____________________ CBT - Done | Theory - Passed | Test - 4th Oct [PASSED!]

Due to my 'angry' nature I would have been inclined to point out the BMW driver's stupidity, and requested him not to touch the motorcycle that was legally parked (unlike his car) and in the meantime, threatened to contact the Merry Hell security team and inform them of a man fiddling with a motorbike that wasn't his own and also his illegal parking
But then I am cruel, I don't like BMW drivers and Merry Hell always makes me angry. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Or gone over and with your mobile in your hand clearly taking pictures of every move he made waiting curiously for a reaction.
Or even better, while he was moving the bike get in his car and start to move that and when he asks what your doing say something like "two can play at that game!" ____________________ My Bikes in order:- Yamaha RXS100 / Suzuki X7 250 / Yamaha RD350LC / Kawasaki

Exactly as a few have stated.
Sitting back and laughing isn't going to do much. The BMW driver probably hasn't learnt anything from the situation other than bikers are an arse. BMW drivers don't tend to know where they're going half the time so chances are he didn't even know he was in a bike bay. Had you pointed that part out, he might have learnt something. And of course, do what Anna says, "don't touch bike" blah blah.
Personally, when someone in Tesco parks in the bike bay, I just park right by their passenger door. Get off bike and take a picture of my bike there and their number plate (camera phones are great aren't they). That way if bike is damaged, I contact DVLA, get their details (for what, £2.50?) and go pursue the matter.
Having said that I felt pretty guilty when I done that a couple of months ago and came back to the bike only to find a woman in a wheel chair couldn't get into the passenger seat. I apologised after she apologised and the driver admitted they were in the wrong. Don't say anything and they won't learn. |

The bike rider was in the wrong here, it's common knowledge that BMW drivers own the roads. He should apologised for parking in front of the BMW ____________________ My bikes are at https://www.bikepics.com/members/dynamight/ |

that's standard car driver behaviour.
It used to happen where I worked - until I started sending out an all users email with a photo of the crappy car clearly illegally parked asking the dozy twunt to move it
now the bike area is always left empty

The annoying bit is that I wouldn't dream of parking either my bike or car is a bay that I shouldn't have.
I would have blocked the tit in on purpose and if he tried to move my bike had him done for attempted theft ____________________ Staffs Riders Forum |

HA HA HA HA, good on you for making the stupid woman cry, ts simple they put the bike bays in so that they dont take up the car bays or risk damage to them or cars etc and then stupid car drivers park in them. There aint one at work which is a real pain in the arse so i will park it right by the front windows, it wont be in the way of the pedestrians and it should be pretty safe as its a retail park so neds or other twats trying to nick it will stick out like a sore thumb and there are always plenty of people around. can also wheel it inside and park it somewere in the store room if there space, i will hope that i can do that more often and can when quiet have the odd skive and sit on it. ____________________ 2nd time around CBT: 8/9/11

Wotcha.
All my bikes have a dust cap which you remove before inflating the tyres - now these dust caps also incorporate a tool for unscrewing the valve core. Any car I come across parked in a motorcycle bay is left with all four valve cores sitting on the bonnet. . . . . or only three of 'em if I'm in a nasty mood ____________________ Cheers.

I park my car in the 'parent and child' spot.
Why should I be penalised for choosing not to own a child?
Bast4rds!
BTW, I sold my BMW after that bike bay incident. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

This happend in uxbrigde, theres like 2 massive multi story car parks, and then a few places to park in the high street, then theres 2 motorcycle bays. The first motorcycle bay was full so I went to the next one, only to find a car was parked there, so I just parked my bike alongside it at the drivers door blocking it in.
I went to the bank, got my shit, then came back, the driver hadnt returned yet, I was soooo tempted to just sit on the other side of the street and watch the guy try to move my bike with its alarmed disc lock But I couldnt be botherd. |

my brothers bike was knocked over in a bike bay in a town near us. They tried to drive off aswell!
But he saw them and got the reg plate They got screwed by the insurance AND (for once) the police.
It does my head in when they park there though. ive made a habit of parking next to them....shaking head, revving, beeping, shouting, banging on there window etc.... till they move, obviously only when someone is in the car. When thecars empty you cant do much

Whilst at university I encountered a car parked in the motorcycle bay at the large Tesco Extra in Cardiff...
I was in a bad mood already having discovered the books I needed for my assignment were all out and not due back into the library until after my assignment was due, which somewhat exacerbated the irritation I felt when I saw this car taking up all of the motorcycle bay.
Now this being Cardiff, and Cardiff drivers being either students or Welsh, there was no way I was putting the bike in a car space (it would get squashed), so squeezed my way up the side of the car, went to find a security guard and informed him of the car parked in the m/c bay and asked for an announcement to be made.
Helpfully the security guard did have a tannoy announcement made to ask the driver to shift said car.
Meanwhile I wrote a really angry note along the lines of:
"I am assuming you are so stupid you cannot count past 2 otherwise you would realise you had 4 wheels and therefore aren't a motorcycle. SO DON'T PARK IN THE MOTORCYCLE BAY AGAIN!"
It made me feel better. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!
