Right - I'm fuming - just had the most bizarre incident with a car. Here goes :-

I ride the bike to work (about 3 miles) every day. This morning got on and realised my fuel was down in the red. There is a supermarket petrol station not far from my house - but whenever I fill the car with Diesel it runs terribly so i try not to go there.

So I decided on a different route to work via another supermarket. I get there and all the pumps are full. So I join the queue and eventually make it to a pump. To set the scene - Petrol pump on my left, to my right the pumps are shut off and coned off as the tanker is filling nearby, I'm at the rearmost pump and there is a van in front of me. I fill the bike up, return and there is a car waiting behind me. I get my helmet on and gloves on - meanwhile the van in front has moved off. I get on and start the bike, quick look in the mirros and car still waiting. Check the stand is up, get my foot on the gear lever and all of a sudden I feel this strange sensation, followed by my right arm being forced forward followed by the handlebars twisting round to full lock - it completely knocked me off balance but I managed to somehow keep the bike up.

It's then I realised what had happened, the car behind had got impatient and tried to push through and hit me with their wing mirror - how they didn't hit the bike as well is a mystery. At this point I should add I am a very calm person - but when I get really angry I have an 'incredible hulk' moment! So I get the bike on its stand and storm over to the car - at this point I think I still had my internal dark visor down! There is a mid-40s woman getting out.

me - "What the F*** do you think your doing?"
her - " What?"
me - " You just f***ing hit me"
her - "oh" and walks off to fill her car up
me - " Oi - you just hit me and almost knocked me off the bike"
her - " Oh"
me - " I was just about to move off, are you that impatient"

She then ignored me and started checking her wing mirror - time to leave before I did something stupid. I headed back into the shop and found out that they have CCTV. I then got out of there - unfortunately in the heat of the moment I forgot to get her reg.

I can't believe how she didn't even apologise!

Grrrrrr

Dave

Let's just say it's a good job I didn't have a swear box in my helmet as I rode off!!!

Had she apologised I probably would have just said ok, but be careful in future - its her attitude that got me so pissed off. Maybe next time I should try and drop the bike towards her car and put the bar end through the window! Twisted Evil

Had it happened 5 seconds later I could have had the bike in gear, dumped the clutch as the bars spun round and gone straight into the petrol pump!!!

Cheers

People have a natural insticnt to survive and they'll just do anything to get away with it.

Some old woman pulled out on me the other day, I caught up with her, her window was down, she total ignored me, wouldn't even make eye contact.

Its what people do, its just a coping strategy.

I would report the incident and get the reg off the cctv.

And apologize profusely knowing how peeved I'd be if I was the biker.

report the incident to the police. Get the reg plate from the cctv. Then make a claim for personal injury for a bruised and battered elbow....go to a doctor btw. Also charge them for the mechanic bill to check over your bike.

Only get the insurance involved once you have the cctv.

She will lose any no claims, and have a fault claim on her record. She will then consider others in the future.

Is there much point? Yes the pure obnoxiousness of the woman is infuriating but you gave her a mouthfull and no damage was done. Frustrating that you can't get retribution due to CCTV.

One day she will do it to the wrong person, pikeys and chavs have their uses Laughing

don't you dare do that.
i would lose any respect (be it E or real life) for someone that does this. i absolutely hate that bullshit idea of "where there's blame there's a claim".
where it's necassary yes. but for something as minor as this incident, you're suggesting doing that?
god i hope you're not serious.

edit: back to original post- that sorta shit's annoying when it happens i know. i had some van driver pull out from a side road in front of me, i nearly smashed into his door. unfortunately for him, his window was down.
me: Evil or Very Mad
him: Neutral
me: *shout* watch where you're going
him: i haven't done anything wrong?
me: it's my side of the road you fucking idiot!
him: Neutral
me: *shout* fuck you then!

And the thing is, I bet she went home that night and told the story of how she narrowly avoided a road rage incident with a mad biker, how brave she was, and how lucky she was not to have been attacked by you and your gang...

And everyone will believe her, and it will become another reason to fear and loathe bikers. No win situation... Mad

i had a similar incident at a local garage. As I pulled into the petrol station, four dozy car drivers were waiting blocking the entrance. Instead of joining a queue in each lane, they were trying to guess which car might pull away from a pump first. The queue was forcing other cars to wait on the road.

I filtered past all of them and went to join a lane. As I pulled in behind a car it started its engine and pulled off. Result.

One of the frustrated little car drivers who was stuck in the queue took objection to this and started yelling abuse out of his window. I started laughing and walked over to him and told him to grow up. By that time the car in front of my pump had pulled away. I asked the frustrated car driver if he was going to fill his car up or just sit there wasting fuel. He was livid Laughing

He accelerated past my bike very closely and overshot the pump and had to reverse back Laughing He then gets out of the car and storms over to me, squaring right up to me and asking me how I "felt about the situation now".

I asked him how he felt about me holding a high pressure petrol hose. I knew CCTV was present and kept the nozzle in the bike.

He ran back to his cage. Laughing

They ain't so tough when there is no steel and glass to protect them.

Simple. Take her keys off her and ride off. She obviously does not have a clue how to drive anyway so you will be doing the general public a huge favour.

Its not the fact they drive cars, its the fact that the general public are envious c*nts and cannot tolerate anybody they see to be getting "the upper hand". If they have to deal with inconvenience then everybody has to suffer it also, or they want to do the same thing... Laughing hence their irritation whilst filtering or whatever...

Oh and the woman the thread was started about, just another ignorant shitter.

at no point did i say exagerate.....if the elbows bruised then yes claim. As fior the mechanical check...yes claim. As someone who worked in insurance it is a reasonable course of action. You walk away knowing they may consider others in the future. Yes i am serious. Your attitude is what means people like this will continue to do it.

if you're not part of the cure....you're part of the problem.

By doing nothing you enforce the idea that there is nothing wrong with what they did. At the very least there would be a bill in the post to them ordering them to pay the cost of a check up....if not payed. insurers would be involved and she would be screwed over as she deserves to be. Btw the respect of someone that would just hide in their hole isnt reallyt important to me. next time she could seriously injure someone.

LMAO, an impatient woman "touched" your arm with her wing mirror and you are thinking about telling the police as if Mass Murder was commited in the forecourt. It's life, get over it!

no, that's not the point.
you wouldn't be curing anything. it plays off too american of sue everyone for anything.
goes hand in hand with "too stupid to walk down the road without falling over? SUE THE COUNCIL!!!"
granted this isn't a case of his mistake, but as he said; what she did was nudge his handle bar with her mirror.
nothing to do with his elbow. nor would there be any damage on his bike from it. if your handlebar cant take a slow speed nudge then it probably isn't safe to use.

sueing her insurance company will not do shit. it will raise HIS policy up though. but hey, he's likely to get a few quid out of it. for a lot of hassle.

not that i know of any other way you could deal with this, i am adament that he should not go down your stupid route of trying to sue her.
