I would have thought a CG would be happy running on pretty much anything, they've got bullet proof engines haven't they?

FWIW I generally go along to Hein Gericke and get their oil and filters offer. Motul oil IIRC.

Another quick question...

I buy oil in litre bottles because my bike takes 1 ltr of oil.

How much is usually left in the sump after draining? I usually end up fudging it and either putting too much in or too little.

Just go in and ask them, they have a book, it's a good deal either way, it's £24.50 for the 5 litres of oil, and for my bike it's £13 for the air filter and £7 for the oil filter so I basically got 5 litres of decent oil for £4.50, pretty happy with that.

You could just bung some ordinary castrol GTX (white bottle) of the apropriate grade in it. Then if you need to top it up, you can buy the same make and grade of oil in any service station.

If it holds a litre, I'd put about 750cc in then add maybe 50cc at a time, checking the dipstick inbetween.

The above was a joke before anyone thinks its a good idea.
Its a CG125 that you will be selling soon. I'd go for the cheapest oil of about the right grade. A CG it will survive on almost anything.

I've always warmed my bikes up with a ride, then let them simmer for 10 - 15 mins

My CBT instructor told me to always check oil levels on level ground and when the engine is cold.

I'd get it onto the dipstick when cold, warm it up, then top up as necessary.

Put it this way. The oil level is only going to get lower when you warm it up after filling cold as some of the oil will stay up in the top-end and stuck to the inside of the engine.

On a CG, I can't see it causing much of a problem if you were to slightly overfill it, it would just breathe any excess out. If you massively overfilled it you could start blowing seals

Works fine in my zephyr and the clutch is good.

Went into Halfords, they had Halfords 10w40 full syth for £9, or GPS for £10.

Bought GPS, selling it in a few weeks so might be the last drink of oil it ever gets when it goes to the next scrote
