Well, i've been offered an SRAD 600 for sale, described as "a bit tatty". Are there any mechanical issues specific to this bike that i need to check, or is it just the usual stuff?

This will be my fourth bike, so i'm acquainted with how to check machines over, i just need to know about specific issues with this bike.

I'm not declaring the price, but it's a good price, as i've been keeping a keen eye on the prices for a while. RS motorcycles have one that's a Cat c write off £100 puts it right, and that's up for £100 (iirc). there are plenty of SRAD bargains out there.

i think you will get cheaper if you dont buy from a dealer.

I am not convinced that dealers check bikes before they go out and if something goes wrong Im not convinced they would fix it.

Have a test ride and see if it seems ok.

I test rode one and its mirrors shook, and the speedo needle wobbled 10mph above and below the true speed.

A dealer may even be able to fix little things like that before you bought it.

I also didnt like the handling but this could have been that the tyres were square.

I prefer thundercats and tt600s.

If the bike is tatty on the outside you can bet the engine hasn't been looked after.Good bikes though.I've had mine for a couple of years now and love it.Spares easy to find on flea bay .

You probably know this already, but accelerate hard in second. The SRAD I rode was jumping really bad when off the lights.

I've found that bikes that are looked after appearance wise are generally serviced and maintained better by their owners.Lets face it,if they cant be arsed to maintain the bike on the outside(which is relatively easy to do)do you think they'll be arsed to change oil/filter plugs etc? I've been riding a lot of years and found this to be the case 90% of the time.

Complete and utter b******s

My vehicles are maintained meticulously, however their nothing to look at as I see it to be a pointless excercise trying to keep something clean that's going to get dirty again within a matter of miles.

I'm sure there are plenty of courier's & racers that'll be of a similar opinion.

had mine for about 4 month now, in the weekday it's used as a commuter bike doing about 30 miles a day, weekend it gets it's daily dose of A-road punishment Very Happy and it's perfect mechanically wise.

I paid 1800 for mine, tax and mot'd with 22k on the clock.
