 |
|
I just bought a '79 Suzuki TS250 on ebay for £205, going to pick it up on Sunday. Be fun to mess around fields on and learn about working on engines (although this a 2t and my main bike a 4t)
Nearly bought an '82 GS650GT dont know why I didn't it went for £166, should have got it! At the last minute I thought better keep the money for a car Insurance was cheaper than my ZXR400! ____________________ Present: GS650 Katana - Getting ready for summer touring!

Cool as fuck!
My first bike was a '76 TS125, looked an awful lot like that but with the old chrome mudguards and original panels. Love the look of old trailies. ____________________ I was only doing what it said on my licence officer....

They did the original in a kind of 'Dukes of Hazzard' orange. Looked brilliant. ____________________ I was only doing what it said on my licence officer....

Don't get any funny ideas about putting it back to standard, old trailie parts are rare and expensive, unless you have patience and bottomless pockets. Could build up into a useful tidy hack though . The main question is - does it have it's original frontpipe and is it in useful nick? This is the one thing that kills old 2t trail bikes, rotten pipes. The standard pipe is very expensive (if available at all) and there are either no aftermarket options, or the aftermarket options are pants (gianelli etc). ____________________ 18:54:48 Rob Fzs: jews don't give away stuff for free

I don't know about standard, parts seem rare from a quick look around, but definately do it so that it's running properly, and maybe respray it etc after, depends what I feel like and how much time I've got!
Won't be spending loads on it as the insurance company wants £1500 to insure the car I want probably get cheaper over the phone but still means theres not gonna be much spending for me! ____________________ Present: GS650 Katana - Getting ready for summer touring!

I had a '77 TS250 but it was the previous model to yours with the slightly flatter tank. From memory, it was quite solidly built with a strong engine (although not outstanding). Off-road it felt a little weighty but was also confidence inspiring as it didn't get chucked off course by potholes like some lighter bikes. Have fun |
