Mike Tyson would be on his arse before he knew what had happened. I studied and trianed in Jeet Kune do for several years and I doubt that Tyson could hit most highly trained fighters, never mind the godlike Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee weighed about 8 stone. Although he was very very good at what he did if Tyson landed a punch he would kill him.
If Bruce hit him I am sure Tyson would just keep fighting cos he is trained to take punches. I studied Lau Gar and Shaolin Kung Fu for years and never did we practice taking punches from really hard blokes.

That said Bruce really was the man.

It is reported that the reason why Bruce Lee died (a brain haemorrage) was because despite being one of the best fighters out there, he still took a few lumps from reasonably matched fighters.

It is said that during his movies, he'd challenge anyone and everyone to fight to keep himself warmed up. Of course there were no end of people who wanted to be able to say they beat Bruce Lee so he had no end of challengers. Most were dispatched quickly, but very occasionally he came across one or two who actually held their own and managed to strike or kick him. Often in the head.

Then that triad linked bird gave him some drug that made him have a proper haemorrage. It may well have originated from the damage done during these fights. (he still won every fight he had, its just he still took a lot of hits afaik.)

Secondly, boxers, when confronted with a street situation often break their hands when they punch because their fists aren't conditioned to strike without boxing gloves. In Wing Chun, a large part of conditioning is called 'iron palm' or 'iron fist' where you punch a wall bag filled with maize each day for six months. You then substitute the maize for sand. Then after another six months fine pebbles. Then after another six months, coarse pebbles. Then after all that... ball bearings! Shocked

I'd have to say that I'd lay a large bet on Bruce Lee's fists being conditioned to strike harder than Mike Tyson's (without boxing gloves).

Thirdly Mike Tyson would be extremely slow in a street situation, with no grappling or kicking experience. No experience of makeshift weapons. No experience of 'dirty fighting'.

I'm certain that in a street fight between Bruce Lee and Mike Tyson, Bruce would think nothing of throwing dust in the face of Tyson if he felt it was necessary to win.

Lets face it, Tyson wouldn't stand a chance.

Western boxing is far too specific to take to streetfighting. Tyson is a animal...in a boxing ring. Yet have I to meet any man who can actually suck thir testes up inside them. One swift kick to the do da's and he'd be crying like a baby.

I was fortunate enough to study JKD for 5 years. Its ethos is to finish the opponent ASAP, by what ever means nessecary. Bruce wouldn't have toyed with him but opted for the quick knock out.

If Lee was as quick as alledged then he would have probably took tyson out very quickly, either horsing in with a sidekick to the leg or straight in with a lead punch. However, as Joe Lewis noted, he was small in frame which didn't lend well to taking blows and one punch from tyson (in his prime I mean) would be enough to finish him off IMO.

Another interesting, and largely unknown fact, is that Gene Labelle beat Lee in a fight. Labelle was a world class grappler. After the fight Labelle walked down with Lee on his shoulders, them both celebrating. Labelle's victory is thought to be the impetues that led Lee to investigate grappling more thoroughly.

Labelle also made steven seagal shit his pants after choking him out for being a prick Laughing

The ability to take a punch is irrelevant. If a professional heavyweight boxer makes full contact, the game is over. In addition. Bruce Lees fighting style dictates not allowing someone that big and strong close enough to land a punch in the first place.

Lee would smash out his knee, then when he's down, do one of those screaming, jumping stamp kicks to the throat.
