quick question.....

Hello, my CBT runs out in August 20th or something. I cant afford to re do it at the moment, nor can I afford to have lessons and take A2 test. Just wondering if I have to have a CBT to be able to take my A2 test? Cuz this will mean that I will have to pay £80 for the CBT, then lessons and test on top if I do have to have the CBT.

You need the CBT certificate for the test and prior to the lessons for that matter.

Yer, you have to have a valid CBT certificate at the time of doing a test

yeh, I'm pretty sure you do. what about your theory test? have you done that? CBT and theory test both last for two years after you've passed them. I needed my CBT and theory test pass certificates when I took my restricted licence test.

Yes you will need it. If it runs out, you can't legally ride on the road until you pass your test. This includes taking the actual test itself.

what are you spending your money on at the moment?
cbt isnt a lot of money.
if you cut back a bit for the next month cant you save the money?
if money is that tight how do you afford insurance and fuel?

all forms of test must be adhered to before an examination of an A test weather it be for a 125-500 cc so yes a cbt and a theory must have been completed before you can do a full A test or even a A1,I read that in mcn and the motorbike industry that people are getting worried that younger people are not coming onto bikes which is worrying bike manufacturers,well maybe if it wasnt sooooooooo exspensive to gain a licence then more people might just join the other thousands riding bikes.I myself found doing a cbt+theory+ 2 day course and another retest (as you cannot expect to pass first time) took over £700 which even for me at 36 earning nearly £30,000 with my wife is a bit steep esp for the younger ones who cannot afford all that then get a bike on top.in that price I did two years of cbt to gain experience and also money prob's in between

some riding schools offer CBT "refresher courses" for people in your situationthey usually cost £30-40 and are only a half day. they can do this because you already ride a bike and you dont need to do all the yard work getting used to not dropping the bike.
