New tyres, Conti Road Attacks any good?

Picking some new tyres up on monday, whats the general consensus on the 'Conti Road Attack' for my ZX6r.

Reason i didnt go with the Sport Attacks is a mileage thing, i do upwards of 1200 miles a month.

So, what are they like, decent grip? Good mileage?

I've got them on my SV650

No idea what they'll be like on a ZX6, totally different bike but I don't really like them on my SV.

No real complaints with grip or wear, but they make the steering too twichy for my style of riding.

I'm a pretty slow rider, and like nice progressive lean. The conti's seem to be a bit all-or-nothing. Might be ok if you're a more agressive rider.

I use ROAD ATTACKS on my ZX6R not sport attacks, i want life out of them.

Cool, i`m looking forward to putting them on. The guy at the tyre place did his best to try and make me get BT014's but as i`ve heard they dont last as long i didnt

Also i went for a 120/70 /17 front instead of the 120/65 as my local bike shop seemed to think it would improve things, what do you think?

Im on a 120/60/17 on the front and 180/55/17 on rear.

Mine is a J model ZX6R and I have never ridden a B model so couldnt tell you.

The road attacks seem to grip quite well I have only had issues in the wet when I have been a bit daft with the throttle which was not down to the tyres, the road was slippy as hell and TBH the tyres did damn well.

I had BT014's on before I got the road attacks and I didnt find them as confidence inspiring as the road attacks yet there was a lot of grip to be had but very very little life out of them, Plus they are a fair bit more expensive.

Expect about 5K out of a rear on a road attack, maybe a little more depending on how you ride.

But really this is all opinion, I like them but you may not.

Plus you have probably made your mind up about the tyres and just want some confirmation and someone to say the right thing about them for you so that you can have confirmation for yourself on your choice.

If i get 5k out of the rear i`m a happy man, a tyre change every 6 months is not too much to bear for something i love doing.

Cant wait to get them on the bike and run them in, should hopefully get them tomorrow or tuesday and i`ll let you know how they feel.

get a set of Road Attacks fitted to my GSXR400 on wednesday. I've got 33bhp's in so I need corner speed. I'll let you know how i find them.

I've got Road attacks on my SV. At first i didn't like them as they really slowed the steering down. However I was using suzuki's pressures of 33/36 in the bike's manual. Once I'd increased the pressures to conti's recommendations of 36/42 the bike handled as it did on 020's and I can't fault them. Stick like glue, but then so do nearly all tyres so no gain or drop over any other really, but that's not a bad thing. Though considering they only cost £144 fitted for the pair, ride in ride out, they have an advantage there

Where they really shine however is in the wet - their performance then is absolutely staggering with loads of grip

I really really like the road attack's. They are so confidence inspiring. I've used them Winter and Summer and at no point have they let me down. Good grip, good milage, good price. What more can I say

I want a big boys bike, preferably a Speed Triple. To date I have ?7:42p stashed away to put towards one. Need to get it in the bank & earning interest asap.

ive got a set on my zxr 400. and they are great, ive worn part of my peg out on the right and am just learning to get toe down on the left.

they give me loads of confidence in the wet and the dry, the first time i used them in the wet i acsurly forgot that it was wet and got my toes down on the right with no twithches at all. and at that price i wont be buying any other tyres

I've got them on the ace and find they give far more confidence and feedback than the 020's I previously had fitted. They're extremely grippy by comparison to the 020's and do very well in damp conditions too. Only once have they let go and that was the fault of a nice patch of diesel half way round a roundabout... but even then they recovered nicely.

On they downside I only get 2500 miles from a rear, but then my bike isn't the lightest and I enjoy lofting a minger from time to time.

They came fitted to my GSXR-750. Initial thoughts are pretty good.

Seem to take a while to warm up though - you know that feeling you get when you just 'know'?

I've had them blistering with the heat after a 'spirited' ride and felt pretty planted to the road. I've no idea how much they cost?

Anyway, seem alright, but I will be changing to MPPs at next change though (I'm not interested in getting high mileage - biking for my is a hobby/sport)

depends where you go. A specialist tyre place will be able to get them much cheaper than a place that does servicing and sells bikes as well.
