I have recently fitted a Micron exhaust on my GPZ500S. However, the fitting of it is not as expected. The downpipes are supposed to allow access to the drain plug but instead come straight under the drain plug. Come oil change time I may be able to get a spanner on the drain plug, with the oil dripping all over one of the downpipes but certainly not a socket in there.
The downpipes then join another pipe (collector box). However, where this pipe goes up through the bellypan there is no clearance atall, the pipe rests on the bellypan and stops the bellypan being attached to the frame by about 2 inches. To counteract this I have had to use extra long nut/bolts with spacers of 2 inches just so I can get the bellypan on! Now the bellypan slopes down towards the floor at the back end.
Are these issues normal when fitting aftermarket exhausts? I have had a friend check the exhaust and he has confirmed it is fitted correctly but refitted it just to be on the safe side. However, the above problem still exists.
Thanks in anticipation.

Fitment problems are common. Some exhaust fit like standard, some need spacing/cutting of the belly pan and some even need the centre stand removing.

Micron are usually pretty good, I'd double check that it was the right one for your model/year, then be really pissed off if it was the right one.

The nexxus on my GPZ500S does exactly the same thing - goes right over the drain plug.

Oil changing does mean slackening off the LH downpipe and moving it slightly so you can access the drain plug with a socket, not ideal but a small price to pay for such a good exhaust system.
