I find my self tempted to buy a 99-02 R6. I probably shouldnt, but i want the full on sport bike experience and the new bike feel all over again.

Completed 10k miles since having the CBR FS and thinking have done everything on it except tour around.

Im currently applying for the Army, meaning if i get in, the first few months will see practically no use to any bike i have at the time, but i will still have one for the rare occasion.

So, a new bike for less money than i can sell the CBR for, shouldnt be too hard considering the prices CBRs tend to go for. Got to be shiney and have a lovely paint job, would like to have lots of trick bits readily available and be a proper sports bike. And ive even found what seems a nice example: HERE

The bike is also cheaper on insurance, first quote i did came £790 TPFT with Bennetts, currently paying £1k TPO Shocked (But then i was 17 Rolling Eyes )

How much would the CBR sell for? Decent condition, 25k miles, new tyres/chain and sprockets...

But, should i do it? Laughing

OK, I can't advise you what to do, but would suggest.

Try one out properly first. They are great bikes but not for everyone.
I tried it, didnt like it, which was after getting off the CBR 1000fK i had at the time.
I loved the handling, speed and especially the braking power, but could not get comfortable, sitting on a park bench, with my head over the front wheel.
It was great for a blast but not exactly anything else unless you had steel wrists.
Secondly Bennetts! I ring them every year the same way as i ring quote me happy. For a laugh. They are seriously over the top price wise, or at least they are for me at 42 with a bike licence for 24 years and 4 years no claims. Always at least double what i normally pay.
As to the rest mate, it's your money, your decision.

My advice if your looking at changing bikes dont go for the same, your going from one bike thats practially the same as another.
I would at least consider a change in engine size, if not engine type.

I dont understand why everyone wants a 600?

I'd love to go bigger again, if not another 750, then a 900 or 1000+ (maybe I'm just compensating for something Laughing )

Everyone seems to want a R6, I may change my mind after riding one, but theres more than one superbike out there that I am positive that will give you the full on feeling that you are after.

The R6 is a hoot Very Happy i love every second i have on mine

the other chaps are right when then say you jumping off one bike onto another thats almost the same...

in superbike ages and ages ago they were saying about folks downsizing and going back onto the 600 super sports from the litre bikes because they are 'more fun' also 600's are cheaper to insure and certanly cheaper to tax

i can reccomend the R6 anyway Wink

I guess they're plentiful so a few deals are to be had, easy(er) to get more out of them than a bigger bore bike, don't look too bad and are pretty nippy for a midrange bike.

A two wheeled Ford Focus then?

Try a few, see what you like about them over the CBR-F. I wouldn't have thought there would be much of a performance hike, the R6 may feel more lairy, but maybe at the expense of come comfort and provisions.

same for me. always way over other quotes i have.

as for the R6, do it. you may aswell. in the army you will want to have fun when you are back after tours of duty, etc... so the R6 would be perfect.
