Couldn't agree more. It really is a case of learning what triggers the pain and what eases it.
When you are doing something (like lifting or sitting etc) really think about how your back is - ask yourself is it straight? Am I putting uneven strain on it? Am I twisting?
When you find what you are doing wrong then you can go about correcting it and changing your methods.


I found not lifting up my bike after it has been blown over an excellent way to protext my bike (took three times for the lesson to sink in though) Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

The pain has now manifested into trapped nerve pain. Hopefully it should pop itself out. My usual trick of hanging from my chin up bar isnt working.

It might be worth you trying to get someone to help 'crack' it. There's nothing more satisfying.

I cross my arms over my chest (hands on opposite shoulders) with my elbows by my side, then Jon picks me up by my elbows and 'shakes' me a bit... CRRRAAAAAAACK all the way down... ahhh lovely.

Vicky would shout at me if she found out though Laughing

Do a search for TENS units or TENS machine. These are the little devices that give you little electric shocks. Used for pain relief and some muscle toning.

just had a trial with one of these, sent the unit back as it was no help whatsoever. it would be more of a placebo effect in my eyes for those with no real problem. i just found it annoying.

I herniated a disc in my neck a year or so ago causing a trapped nerve. Couldn't move my head to the right or raise my right arm at all for two weeks. An osteopath certainly helped sort it.

I recently started having severe pain in my neck again every morning. Last night I slept in the spare room to see if my bed was causing it and have woken up after the best nights sleep in weeks with absolutely no pain. Looks like my bed is to firm so I'm getting no support no my neck when sleeping on my side.

Sometimes firm can be bad for you.

The quailty of units varies a lot the ones over the counter use to be rubbish. I have found them very good but you do have get the pads in the right place etc.
However I belive some people are just not affected
