spluttering?

Ive not noticed this before (well, maybe I havnt taken notcie)
Dad changed the spark plug few hours ago. Took it out for a ride, pulls away nicely now but when i lay off the accelerator
it slows like normal but I hear .........putt....put put..........put put
(best way to discribe guys sorry Laughing

)
Ideas what could be causing this?

AHHH 2T I wouldnt worry to much, most of them run fairly rough due to the fuel cycle from intake to exhaust, it's alot less efficient than a 4t engine.

here's some easy things you can do to try solve the prob -

1. check plug gap, and make sure the plug is the right one.
2. clean airfilter.
3. run a carb cleaner through your system.

any other symptoms? if it's difficult to start and losing power it might be time for a new piston kit.

Halfords done a check to see if plugs were same, that was all ok.
Dad checked the gap, that was fine.
Will do a carb cleaner.
Pistons, last owner said he changed them only a short time ago Thumbs Up

there's no technique! although its an auto so on-off throttle will be constant, let us know how you get on.

What Carb cleaner would you reccomend. I use Redex each time I fill the tank, In halfords they had another redex type product but cant remember if that was for carbs or not.

Halfords have the tiny bottles for each full tank you use.
So, judgeing by your comment, it can fook the bike up? Confused

Louise, please don't read anything into what I say or ask. I simply didn't know that Redex came in tiny bottles for motorbikes. Do they sell bottles for scooters (small fuel tanks) and slightly larger bottles for motorbikes (much bigger fuel tanks)?
I have only ever seen the big bottles. The ones you poor the whole amount into your car petrol tank just before you fill up.

I just checked the Redex website and they don't list Redex for motorcycles. I'm wondering if the 50ml 'One shot' bottle is a little too much Redex for your fuel tank and perhaps the Redex is affecting the rating or specifications of the fuel too much. I seem to recall that it is OK to dump a smjall bottle into a car fuel tank and them fill up the tank with fuel. So, thats 250ml in a 50litre tank of fuel. That makes for a ratio of 200:1 petrol:Redex mix.
A 'one shot' 50ml bottle of Redex in just 5 litres of fuel gives a ratio of just 100/1, I'm certain this would make a bike splutter.
I hope you follow my thoughts on this.

I guess this would also make your bike drink extra fuel Wink

, make the bike run 'leaner' and make it heat up a little more too.
Any comments anyone?

Yup they had 3 different Sizes on the shelf. My bottle, cant remember the liter of fuel ammount will check later. but for 99p
The small bottle I thought id try it (I just love to buy things Rolling Eyes

Okie doky, will follow. Wont use it now. Ive just filled the tank up, no Redex added. Will give it a goo run later on to see if theres any difference.
On the subject of Redex, is there any bike cleaner that would be handy in clearing out the shyte?

You don't need Redex anyway with modern fuels as they are filled with Detergents anyway, just burning money. Wink

Louise, I don't think there would be any need to spend money on little extras, althoiugh I applaud your eagerness to try things and learn, you obviously love your bike. Simple maintenance should be enough to keep it running well.

I cant help but take it apart everyother day to see what 'X is connected to'
Spray painting is still on going and im enjoying doing it.
As ive said somewhere else on here I brought it as a project, so if i bugger it up, I do so. Simple.
When I get to a bigger bike tho, no more taking it apart Smile
