Which bike

At the moment I have a Yamaha r6 thinking of having a change to a different bike.Only passed test a month ago so not sure what style to have.I think the r6 is a fantastic bike but uncomfortable to ride cripples my back and wrists.Thinking of having a more relaxed bike buy dont want a boring one any idea folks

hmmm its there are some cool sports touring bikes, , and will be more to your comfort though, as i am considering the 2006 R6 atm, i have had my fair share of numb bum though

Hornet 900's are good value secondhand, but really there's loads of bikes that you might like out there, so you need to just have a look and a ride on a few that you think are the ones that might suit you best.

Coming from your R6, you might find another rival sportsbike is much more comfy, but otherwise you might want to be looking at, sports tourers, half naked all rounders like the Fazer FZ6/FZ1, CB600/1000F, SV650/1000S and the Z750. Otherwise a naked streetbike might be good like the Hornet or Z1000, Speedtriple etc. Or a maybe even a retro bike like a Kawasaki ZRX1200 or CB1300S?

bloo - how many miles have u done on the R6? your body must adapt to the bike and you must learn to relax on it.

It took 2500 miles for me to get comfy on my storm.

I found my older style (J model) ZX6R offered 98% of the fun of an R6 without the wrist or back pain.

Definitely worth a decent test ride.

Never took my ZX6 on track, but I reckon it wouldn't offer quite as much, though would still be pretty much as fast.
When really going for it the more focused r6 is a bit better, with better suspension and riding position, but as I said, there's not much in it.

As previously stated, You basically need to get used to the riding position of the R6, When I first went from a commuter to a sports bike my wrists ached quite a bit, But after a while your wrists should build up and once youve got yourself good positioning on the bike it should feel a lot comfier.

yeah i had to delete it
cause i couldnt resize it, the program was crappy..

yeah i think you need to ride long too, cause you have to get to know the bike better....
but im still deciding on what bike to get next also

It really depends on what you want from a bike.

Mine is a vote for the previously mentioned Z1000 , as that is what I have and it gives me the power and speed to keep up with sportsbikes if i push it, but a nice relaxed riding position, but it is great fun at lower speeds on the twisty roads. Its a great fun bike.

I also agree that a bike will take some time to adapt to but i think you will also know if a bike is just not working for you...that is up to you to decide.

I'd recommend my usual advice though which is to go and get test rides on everything you possibly can. Go into dealerships and try a range of bikes. You will know what you need from a bike and your body will know what feels comfortable so get out and testride bikes until you find what suits you.

Id recommend maybe trying the VFR's and triumph sprint...both nice sports tourers that may be a little more kind to your body than the R6 but not too far removed from the style.

try resting your upper body on the tank so you arent supporting your weight with your wrists

it might take a while to find a position which is comfortable, you have only had the bike a month

or you could just get a thundercat instead

i test rode a few bikes and found the '99 r6 a bit tricky for me after id just passed my test it seems more track focused than other 600s.

It might just take a bit longer to get the hang of
