propaganda wars = jobs?

I dabble with photoshop now and again , and according to the
news some journo called Hajj , doctored (badly, very badly) some
pictures of an Israeli F-16 dropping 3 bombs (when it dropped
1) , and the smoke from a bombed beiruit being darker and clone
stamped all over , it was very obvious and very poorly done.

This is bad,

but my question is this , can I make a career out of it? , at the
moment I do a so so white collar job which feels a bit dead end
sometimes, now I'm ok with photoshop , specialising in flesh over
vehicles and my BCF pictures are generally quickly hashed and barely colour matched either.

Or would this be selling your soul to the devil ?.

most supermodels have their pictures photoshopped (or similar program) to make them look better, so yeh there are quite easily jobs out there that you could do with photoshop on.

No it wouldn't. You should travel to Lebanon and take some pictures of F16 jets dropping bombs. Thumbs Up

There are professional artworkers at repro companies that specialised in retouching photography. At the last design agency I worked for I handled photography jobs and we always had them retouched to remove blemishes, correct colour or simply blank parts out etc. It seems to be quite an artform when done well.
I've never really learnt how to use photoshop myself although I'd love to be able to mess about with photographic images jsut for fun.
If it's something you like doing you should look into qualifications in it along with graphic design/artwork for print.

Yeah, and then there's the other end of the photoshop/graphic scale where they are earning upwards of 30K a year for doing photo retouching and alterations.

Work on a decent mag - in house - would need shit hot skills, not just 'ok' ones.

Every picture of every woman in a mag is shopped somewhere/somehow. There's an ever growing market for the skills, but you have to be fookin' good.

Once again, you sit in front of your keyboard and get it wrong.

Hi

Take a look at the front page of MCN this week. Pretty sure you could do a better job than that.

Mock up of a 6 cylinder Suzuki. Forks don't reach the top yoke. Twist grip on both sides. Conventional front brake master cylinder with an additional remote reservior floating around. Throttle cables stop in the middle of nowhere then start off again in the middle of nowhere.

All the best

Keith
