Rumour has it that even if the can doesn't have 'not for road use' on it, if the copper can see straight down it (using torch) i.e no baffles, then your nicked!

Thumbs Down

My 'not for road use' is stamped round the neck of the can. Right under where you attach the CE marked exhaust clamp (which obviously conforms to EU regulations for exhaust clamps).

It was supplied like that.

My Leo Vince can has no 'Road legal' or 'For race use only' on it Thinking

there's no requirement for an E mark, or BS stamp on cans these days. it comes down to MOT Tester's discretion as to whether it's legal, however, IF it has a "not for road use" "for race use only" or appears to have had markings tampered with, then it's an immediate fail.

if you have stuck on E or BS markings to hide "race use" markings, then you are also guilty of fraud.

but as for the polis knowing anything about baffles, sounds like more anecdotal scaremongering.

The MOT and construction and use regulations are completely different, although your bike passes an MOT doesnt mean it's 100% road legal it just means it's safe.

Was suprised when I forst heard about this.

Just because a bike passes an MOT the police can still fine you for various other things related to the bikes parts such as the can.

I had my Not For Road Use Can stamped with a BS mark when I had it made up.

It would have been legal if the baffle didn't keep falling out.
