Oil over rear tyer

My mate serviced his bike yesterday, when he drained the engine oil the daft b*****d kicked the tray he had emptied the oil into causing the oil to spill all over the garage floor and his rear wheel.
He didnt stop to wipe the oil off the typer so it was sitting in the oil puddle for about 3hours Rolling Eyes

What we would like to know is will the typer be alright or will he have to get a new rear wheel?

the tyre shouldnt be damaged, get all the oil off and they should be OK. Check them over anyway just to be sure, make sure theres no bulges or cracks in the rubber. Bring out the tissue paper!

yeah give it a really really good clean and go easy and you should be fine, anything that looks odd then dont risk it.

I rolled my mates TT600 through a puddle of oil when I put a new lump in it, scrubbed the tyre with hot water and fairy liquid. He hasn't crashed and died so it must have worked Laughing

Make sure he takes it easy for the first few times he starts to lean it decently.

A pressure washer may help as well.

In the past I've had chain lube all over the left hand side of a race-bike tyre. As it was for a practice session, just took it easy on the lefts (getting a rather squirmy sensation when I did) after a few laps it was fine.

give it a good clean and it should be fine i think...ive been thought loads of oil puddles and its just washed off.
