I think I need a larger ruck sack for Bulldog bash, mine is like a sports one. Plus it will be handy in the future.

There’s a Millets camping shop near me, I haven’t got anything to tie on the bike, I was thinking I could get one large ruck sack (don’t know If they have a name) and tie everything on it. I will need my tent, air bed thing, sleeping bag and pillow most importantly so any tips on extra bits to get it all on there?

Cheers Wink Thumbs Up

Tie as much to your bike as possible if you're going by bike - your back won't thank you otherwise.
Tiedowns and bungees can usually be got cheaply if you look around.

For back packs, I'd reccomend an Army Burghen - can get them from Army and Navy stores etc. These /can/ be really massive and are decently tuff. Mine's lasted me over 6 years of festivals, bike rallies, Motorcycle racing, trips to Amsterdam, etc.

I usually try and have it so the backpack is resting on some other stuff tied to the bike, this way it doesn't put so much pressure on your back.

Luckily its going to take me about an hour maybe less to get there, so it wont be too bad on the back.

I guess i could use the grab rails and some tiedowns for some thing.

You can usually find bungee points somewhere under the tail, or under seats if need be.

Depends how much stuff you're taking, I've taken a 6 stone back pack to Glastonbury before (walking/train), no way I'd attempt anything like that while riding a bike.

As well as any 'pain' on your back, when accelerating or braking hard a heavy back pack has seperate 'momentum' to you and can pull you back/push you forward. Too high and it can also pull you back from wind speed.

Cheers dude, i really need to set off early, by the time i got this back pack sorted i'll be late enough. Thanks a lot though! Very Happy Thumbs Up

Cheers G, it's going to be a bit of a mission but i'm sure the bag im taking wont be really heavy, most of it is light weight stuff and it's only 2 nights.
I took around 90 cans of beer to Glasto, as well as other shite, it took me an over an hour to get to my tent with the big luggage thing, it broke as well. Sad

If you want value for money don't go to camping stores, go to your local army surplus shop.

I bought a hiking backpack from Dicathlon, and its done numerous weekends away.

If your only away for afew days you should be fine with a backpack mate.

I've done numerous weekends away with one being even 12hrs on a CBR600RR with a rucksack packed up for a weekend, yeah that hurt but the feeling goes away after 20min.

And I love watching the paniers and tank pad boys trying to filter and fill up with petrol!, and when you stop for a break.(they are the only pluss points I can think of with a rucksack) Rolling Eyes Laughing .

If your going to tour seriously then yeah get the gear, or if you are going away with a GF on the back etc, but if your on your only going for a weekend alone mate, then I'd be reluctant to spend the cash. If its longer than afew days then you would need a huge rucksack!.

Ive got a suitcase i took to guernsey with me - strapped that to the pillion seat of my CBR4 with just 2 bunjee's and a cargo net. Rode from stoke to manchester airport up the motorway with it on the back. stayed in place Thumbs Up Its amazing the amount of stuff you can fit on the back.

About two years ago myself and my girlfriend at the time went to some bike meet which i forget the name of. We took all our stuff and the two of us on a zxr400 - little squashed i'll admit that - but we got there and back Thumbs Up

If that's big enough, that should be ok.

Proper burghen's are 120lt or something stupid.
