PostPosted: 12:43 - 05 Jul 2006    Post subject: Post ratings and our good friend G!!! Reply with quote

I just had a look at my profile to see if anything needs updating and noticed that the one time I gave someone a bad post rating G removed it, I'd love G to rite some long self righteous response to this telling me why?.

The person involved hadn't rated any of my posts so it wasn't some silly revenge thing!!.

It's the only negative rating I've given in ages.

I thought the rating of posts was to let people know your opinions on what other members where posting, the worst there rating the more rubbish they put up here, I wasn't told that the thing had to be to the approval of G. I know its only a small matter just annoying.

There's one member on this forum I don't like and thats G, I know I've never met the bloke and If I do we might get on, but from how he behaves on the forum(or at least how I percieve his posts) I think he's arrogant. Sorry bud but I just had to say it.

Easy one.

You rated the post as SPAM.

Korn, in the ratings guide, says:

Quote:

This post is SPAM:
Use this reason only if you spot a blatant piece of unsolicited commercial advertising, similar to what you would term junk mail.

So that's why it would have been deleted. Because the post wasn't commercial advertising.

Let the karma bashing COMMENCE! (Joke)

I'm sure there was a reason for it being revoked, and anyway, he's a nice guy, met him a few times. And anyway, on any forum picking a fight with a moderator will never get you anywhere good.

I think a PM would have sufficed.

I see no reason to hide my opinion mate.

Im not picking a fight with a Moderator im telling him I don't like him from what I've seen of his posts, if he's not big enough to take that then its his problem. If they want to play "its my ball and im going home" its his call.

Bendy yes it was rated as SPAM, because in my opinion it was a pointless post, I can understand if its a forum rule, but thats not the meaning of SPAM I've used or seen used in other places, granted my fault for not reading the forum rules. however something could have been said to me by G, something as simple as"oi you muppet read the guide lines".

Now can I say, I know this post reads like I started it to flame G but that wasn't the point, I simply wanted to know why my rating was removed, and now I know, just kind of vented at G! Rolling Eyes.

Your not suggesting the mods would.................?
No never, the mods wouldnt do that would they just because somebody spoke up on a forum?

Unless of course you know something that others dont know?

You know how many members there are on this forum?

You know how many times they have to revoke such silly ratings?

You say it was 'pointless'...so why not give it a redundant rating?

Surely that would have been more suitable?

If admin were to pm everyone with an explanation as to why he revoked a rating, it'd be their full time job.

What is it with some people?

SPAM has one meaning. You should always put the trademark SPAM in all capital letters and follow SPAM with "Luncheon Meat" or other descriptor. A trademark is a formal adjective and as such, should always be followed by a noun.

You probably mean spam.

Just a word of advice.
Never rate anything either spam, abusive or flame. They all can and will be revoked by a moderator if they feel that it is unfair. Best to always rate using one of the others, boring etc..

As said spam on here is not used in the same way as spam is on other forums.

Common curtesy????? Rolling Eyes

I can understand it being removed if its a forum rule, but I can't see being told as a problem why as a problem.
Yeah there are alot of members on here, but I'm on larger forums and you get told reasons for things on them.

Anyhow I've been told now so there's not a problem, and in this thread my opinion of G has improved, by the fact he is a good sport and hasn't gone off on one, and rated it as funny!.

Does anyone else find it ironic that any threads relating to Karma invariably end up in a bout of online fisticuffs?

Here's a suggestion (albeit a bit OT)...

What about no green/yellow blobs relating to each individual user however the ability to rate each post using the https://www.bikechatforums.com/images/smiles/thumb_up.gif or https://www.bikechatforums.com/images/smiles/thumb_down.gif in the same fashion we do now.

It would save a helluva lot of griping about loss of blob status.
