what to use to fit a tank cover in place ?

i have a tank cover but dont have anything to stick it onto the tank with

i was thinking of using double sided carpet tape, but im not sure how waterproof it would be and whether it would mark the tank

the tank has been resprayed at some point so i cant be sure i wont rip off paint if i ever need to remove the tank cover

any other suggestions to stick it in place ?

what make is it?

i thought they usually fitted with straps that went under the tank.
can't you fit some if there aren't any?

Silicone sealant will hold it fine, waterproof, and won't damage the paintwork when/if you come to get it off.

where do i get it ?
is this the same as bathroom sealant, the white stuff you use around baths ?

if thats the stuff, i have some which is handy, i just need to find where the plunger wotsit is

Same place you'd get the White from, B&Q or a local DIY store or Plumbers.....Should be easy enough around Dudley Colin.....

Silicone sealant releases acaetic acid as it cures.

I doesn't do much good if you try to seal electronic componants with it.

True, but as a way of sticking carbon fibre to the tank it is probably the best solution. Sticky pads would leave a gap underneath and double sided tape probably won't hold.
Has a great smell as it goes off too.
