CBT asssumes no prior road experience, but in my view it doesnt hurt to know a bit for when you go on the road, but they wont test you on road signs or anything.

Yes, its kind of the rules of the road. If you dont knwo the basics then you are not going to be safe in yourself or for other road users. It will also come in handy for the theory test.

One of my 'serious faults' was a Highway Code point - I didn't slow down to let a bus pull out in front of me and the examiner even referred to the relevant section of the book Tut Tut

When i did my CBT there was two l16 year old lads doing it too, the instructor sent one of them home and told him to come back when he had read the highway code, the lad had rode straight out at a give way sign cos he didnt know he had to stop.
The instructor wont test you on this but he will expect you to know that basic rules of the road.

Good luck

You cant fail the CBT, only not pass.

The instructors may refuse to take you on the public highways if they belive that you are a danger to other road users due to a lack of knowledge.

Exactly what I was gonna say... Thumbs Up Wink

The best idea is to have at the very least a basic knowledge if its your 1st time on the road.

if the sign says stop, you stop..

if it says give way... you give way

etc..
