Reading Festival

Hello All,

I'm (hopefully) going to Reading Festival this year. I got tickets early but then the people I was with dropped out. I'm now going with a friend of mine, however she cannot get the Thursday off work, which means we'll end up arriving at the field at half 8ish Thursday evening.

We're only taking one small tent, but would rather not have to be hunting for a pitch in the failing light. How easy is it going to be to find somewhere to set up tent?

If needed, I'll arrive during the day and get a pitch early, and my friend will have to come up on her own.

Advice and suggestions welcome! Also - anyone else going? Perhaps we should get a bit of a BCF camp going?

It's not so much a question of finding a space, but finding one where you won't have to walk for ages to get to the main arenas.

However if you get there at around 8 it shouldn't be too bad.

Gutted I'm missing it this year, as I'm racing. Might try and go in on Sunday night, but susepect I'll be too knackered :'(.

Dont pitch anywhere near the toilets or the bushes. If the toilets get knocked over near your tent, your camp area will smell of poo. If you camp near the bushes, the men that dont use the toilet will use the bushes and your camp area will smell of piss. And also dont camp next to a busy walkway or its likely people will trample on your tent.

The campsites are usually well lit, so getting set up wont be so bad. If you are driving it may be wise to sleep in your car till first light, then pitch.

Toilets can't get knocked over now because they are in a walled compound with guards!

However still good advice for any festival; never near toilets or the edges (fences and walkways). Also avoid the water points or anywhere a lot of people are likely to walk - so a decent distance away from walkways.

Any piece of advice, my mate went to Reading and needless to say, got pissed.

Someone stole his wallet keys and mobile from the tent whilst he was still in it asleep! Laughing

This year, he`s keeping his wallet in his sleeping bag!

That's all I was going to say - never underestimate the cheek of the theiving bastads!
At V festival last year, a couple in the tent next to us had a wallet(£100cash), phone and car keys nicked literally from under thier nose at the far end of the tent by thier heads.
Keep them at the bottom of your sleeping bag. Even a scouser would have trouble getting at them there.
