Just take it easy in the corners, and over any painted or overbanded/tarred areas.
As long as you're not aggressive with the throttle or brakes (which I'm assuming you won't on a lesson) everything should be fine.

EDIT: ...and try to look and plan a little further ahead that you normally would, just so that you can give yourself more time for those smoooth changes of speed Wink

(Just for the record, I did CBT and most of my DAS in the rain last year with absolutely no motorbike experience whatsoever, and I managed to stay shiny side up.. )

Good luck with the lessons. HTH Thumbs Up Wink

Aye, just keep your eyes open though. Stay off the white bits and watch out for any 'rainbows' where spilled diesel/oil has been brought back up to the surface of the road. It can get quite greasy out there if it rains after being dry for a long time.

Don't brake whilst cornering and steer clear of manhole covers. As the others have said, if you have to ride over white painted bits in the road, like SLOW, try and ride in between the letters.

Went on on my 50cc moped yesterday (don't laugh) and fell off whilst going round a roundabout. I was doing a sensible 10mph and was not braking but the end slid out and my arse landed on the floor anyway

It really shouldn't have done that. Are you sure you didn't ride over a manhole cover or patch of diesel?

The rain does in deed suck, just be gentle on the brakes and throttle, dont go mad in the bends and avoid loose leaves and gravel if you can.

The wind, well thats a different story Embarassed

im not looking forward to riding in the wind, as it harder to cope with than rain as im so light.

Tom.

Snaking on slippery white lines is normal lol, but a tyre wont lose its grip on a roundabout in the rain unless you are leaning and run over something slippery

Come to think of it there was a tiny little drain cover and I only noticed it a few hours ago but now I have fallen off I am glad I did if anyone understands that?

Yep.

The day of my 1st test the wind was blowing a gale and it had been raining the previous night leaving the roads nice and greasy. When turning a corner, my rear wheel slipped on a drain cover in the middle of the road. Its quite a scarey feeling.

I did my CBT in the rain, snow and wind. That was an experience.
Still, I'm moving on and up now, but it always pays to take it easier than you might, especially when you're in unfamiliar territory.

I've had 1600 incident-free miles so far, I hope you can have the same luck!

I was really nervous about a crash because my mates who were on the road before me have all had crashes and I was shit scared about mine but now I have done it I think I will be better prepared if I have another one.

Well on my 125, my first (and last on tis bike hopefully!) was on a roundabout, in the dry!

Air temp was about 32/33 and aparently the road temp was about 45ish Shocked ....no diesel, no man hole covers but there are some huge KEEP CLEAR thingies on the road but i fell off before them.

a weirdo from tescos phone the ambulance and police, pc plod just thought it was the soft tarmac giving way ( i was only doing about 20 and it was a biggish roundabout)
